I’d follow up with LG also. I worked through the Costco concierge service, who filed my claim with LG. From that point my contact was the local LG technician. I don’t mean to be a conspiracy theorist, but I did have a few weeks left on my Costco satisfaction guarantee (that was Plan B). That could have served as a motivator for LG/Costco to give me prompt repair service.

Still have issue..

Any assistance is much appreciated

Did you ever have it working or are you setting up a new account? I had this issue in setting up Alexa integration. You must create the account on the C8 directly, not with a smart phone or computer. Once created you can log in and the problem is resolved.

Good luck getting your stuck pixel repaired. I have been sitting on my repair for two months now and one month since the last repair tech came out, which was his third visit. Apparently it takes them over a month to replace a tv with many faulty parts, the biggest issue for me being such a dark picture that I can’t even make out anything in it despite everything maxed to 100.

My issues are:
Extremely dark picture
Randomly shuts off
Problems turning on where tv just shuts back down
Audio drop outs
Magic remote no longer works with it
Random closed caption that has nothing to do with what’s on

Basically it’s pointless to use as you can’t see it. The one attached image is the oled, the other my bedrokm tv. At least you can still watch yours despite the one stuck pixel. This might be months before you hear anything.

You have to unlink the app and then relink & supposedly it will start working again. Needs to be done for both Google & Alexa app on the TV

I picked up a store display 55" C8 today. I’m pretty sure it was on 24/7, and it has almost 6200 hours on it. Unfortunately it has some noticeable burn in on some of the color slides, particularly red. It’s noticeable in The Last Jedi - The Battle In Snokes Throne Room scene which uses lots of red. It’s mainly in the middle of the screen. Wondering if anyone has suggestions on things to try to get it less noticeable. I updated it, changed settings based on rtings suggestions and ran the pixel refresher. Next I’m leaving it unplugged for 48 hours. I’ve read some suggestions about running certain content/slides for extended periods of time also but couldn’t tell how realistic that option is. I have 90 days to return it and got it for a great price which is why I’m willing to mess with it. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

If you have option to return it I would asap! No fixing it, the tv is junk at this point from the sounds of it. You must be a rookie to OLEDs, never buy a store display model ,and also very picky on open box return oleds.

That was my first reaction too. Sort of like buying a high performance car that was driven a 100K miles over sand dunes in the desert or driven at the South Pole.

I mean, I guess it could be an interesting experiment to see how bad it is, and there is a 90-day return, but it terms of what most people on this forum would suggest? I think they would say this is not the way to go.

Yeah I get that, but most people in this thread paid 2-3 times what I did for the TV, maybe more. If I paid that amount that would absolutely be my same reaction/feedback. I know pricing talk is frowned upon so let’s say I’m comparing picture quality to a LG SK8000 series or a Samsung 7000 series for my dollars spend. I am a rookie to OLED and let me say, even with the panel issues I’m VERY impressed! This will replace a Samsung KS8000 if I keep it and it’s a noticeable difference. I figured worse case I’m out some time and gas money, but unfortunately for my wallet this may mean worse case I’m ready to pony up more for a new OLED.

Try running the pixel refresher every day for a week. This is what LG would tell you to do. If it is still there return it.

Just ordered a C8. Question, I plan to use LG apps for streaming context. I’ve heard that the C8 ARC can be finicky. Would it be better to run audio back to a receiver via an optical cable?

I have no issues running arc. Everything though to my receiver via HDMI then out to tv. My tv apps play fine

Thanks!
Did you buy it from Best Buy, there extended warranty covers burn in. Are you sure its burn in? Run that TV 24-7 for a week on HBO or something without any logos, if you still have the same issue it is indeed burn in and not a case of image retention which would go away. Did you steal it, may be worth keeping?

Vincent's new review goes into some nice technical details about LG's fix for the near-black chroma overshoot.

BTW, yes, disabling dimming in the SM on the C8 will let you go on with no dimming, but a pinned OLED light. I totally agree with jk82 this is not a recommended approach to battling this absurd (yes, I said it, 'absurd' IMO) approach to burn-in protection.

Although perhaps rare, I'll bet that if this is what it takes to have this dimming kick in, eventually you will find real-world content, other than news, where this issue will rear its ugly head.
reading through, FYI disabling dimming setting does NOT disable "ANSD"

so currently there is still no way to turn off ANSD

Sounds similar to what they did with the C8 minus the gamma mess up. I guess the 2019s near-black handling is similar to the C8 with the 05.XX.XX firmware...

Well, in the end, you are indeed the only one that can make the judgment on whether it is a good value for what you paid. And given the 90-day return, you're not really at that much risk.

I remember making a somewhat similar decision almost twenty years ago. I bought some monstrous Harmon Kardon Citation amps they were closing out on this auction site for about 70% off. I bought two and my wife thought it was a silly spur-of-the-moment decision. They turned out to be awesome amps and we still have then in our home theater today.

So sometimes these risks do pan out.
