My point is, anyone can test it, but they would need a spectro/good colorimeter, and enough patience to wait 2-3 minutes between each point. The whole thing took me a lot longer than I care to admit lol
First of all I would like to say thank you for sharing the settings and all the time you put into creating them.

I entered the HDR Technicolor settings and found then to be an improvement over some basic changes I had made. After entering all the settings in TV mode using YouTube I shared the settings to all inputs. Then ran Lucy in HDR and checked the settings, only two code values were off and I corrected them. Much easier than entering then all over again.

Then went on to SDR ISF Dark and ran Lucy on SDR Blu-Ray. Something I ran into was entering the “100) -2, 0, 0, 3â€Â codes. When on IRE 100 and click Next to enter the codes it displays Target Luminous < 120 >, (which I left alone) then I entered the four codes. I am assuming this is correct?

Thanks again, Bert
You're very welcome 🙂. I never change the target on 100 ire. I just leave it at default. I don't think that it will impact the calibration, but maybe 🤷

Okay I downloaded the DVD, un-7z'ed the ISO, copied to NAS, accessed the ISO from my popcorn hour C200. The device plays the ISO well, I got the menu and could play the goodies.

When I get to "White clipping" in the basic settings I get a uniform white picture. No gradations at all. I suppose this illustrates the exact issue. No matter how low or high I set the contrast and brightness, it's still a 100% uniform image.

Could be your source. Open the YouTube app on the C8 and search for "AVS HD 709 Contrast Calibration." Do you see the bars on that video?

I recently acquired a Sennheiser Ambeo soundbar to mate with my 77” C8. It’s a fantastic option for those who may be space-challenged and still want great sound. Frankly, I was shocked at how good it is. There’s a separate thread for it, so I’ll keep my remarks brief.

Possible. Thanks for your suggestion. I played this video on my 15" retina MBP and the blinkies are only on the left side between 230 and 234. Don't know if that means anything.

I'll have a look tomorrow on my TV.

Some displays clip at 235 (RGB Video Range is technically 16-235) or have some setting that limits it. The C8 does not limit it to 235 when Contrast is set at 85 or lower. This allows some headroom for data above 235 that may be in the source.

You're not using any of the bad presets like vivid or sports, are you? Those do in fact cause clipping and blown out highlights.

It could also be a video levels mismatch between your playback device and the TV. On the LG it's called black level, where low is limited and high is full range.

To rule out your playback device, try playing the test pattern (mp4 version) directly to the TV from usb using one of the accurate presets like ISF bright/dark or technicolor. You should see all the bars flashing at default settings.

Some of the characters in your quote got scrambled for some reason and can't tell if you were making a suggestion or not.

Anyhow, viewing Lucy on Blu-ray in SDR ISF Dark which was upscaled was very close to the 4K disk.

I notice that too. Particularly when people use an apostrophe. But yeah, don't mess with the target values. Just plug in the settings and you're good. I'm glad you're enjoying it so far.

Hi,
Can someone tell me where I can get a free test pattern to see if my brightness factory default of 50 has been properly set at the factory. Thanks!

I think this has been discussed before, but does the C9 have the same issue with gamma and black crush? If not, I can't see why the technicians can't give us a FW Update to duplicate the gamma settings on the C9.

@djoberg right now Im not experiencing any crush on the latest firmware. Cant speak for the C9 as I still dont have it, but will give some feedback via pm if you would like, as I dont really like doing too many comparisons on owner threads.
