Need Help with a C8 77". Can anyone with an internal schematic of the 8 series OLed's please send me a copy. I need to make sure the Wi-fi / bluetooth adapter is a separate module on the bottom Corner of the TV. This was the case in my C6 and I doubt they changed this configuration but I need to make sure. Somebody on here was Fantastic back then and had the repair PDF that showed the parts and where they are located. I would really appreciate if someone who has the schematic or the repair doc on the 8 Series oled's would share that with me. Much appreciated!

If by "the" new firmware you mean a public release that's later than 4.10.55, it does seem that two people (IanS and scoobeesnac) over on AVForums (link) have both been offered 5.10.02 Over The Air.

This is good news for several reasons. Those that installed it via the engineering menu aren't screwed with the high version number. It should cut down the number of "LG won't release new firmware for months / ever" posts. Etc.

I've checked on my TV and I'm not currently being offered anything though.

Well, a guy on Hifi-Forum told me that if i was able to install 05.10.02 with the SURE App / USB-Flashing it means its an official version. SURE/USB-Flashing does not support BETA-Firmwares. To install BETA-Firmwares you have to enable Engineering-Mode. Correct me if i got this wrong.

Maybe you just have to wait a couple days until its shipped to everybody.

EDIT:
Just visited the thread you linked above. The last comment said that 05.10.02 was blocked before and asked IanS and scoobeesnac to check if they could install 05.10.02 with the SURE-App. The fact that i could install it means that its unblocked.

Hmm, I don't think that is quite correct. Then again, he could easily be right.

My understanding was that if you can access the "USB firmware" page (using the Sure app or otherwise), then that menu should let you install any firmware. The problem is/was that the route to get to that menu is blocked in the 5.* firmwares (engineering ones, anyway). We don't yet know if it's also blocked in the publicly released versions.

Separately, the normal way to get those Engineering firmwares is to put the TV into Engineering mode and wait.

My guess is that's probably proprietary information LG wouldn't share.

May put the oled in the bedroom on the wall. Dunno. I’m torn.
I have this problem on my C7 and LG agreed to replace the panel.
I am waiting for the parts.
If yours is a C8, then the problem spans generations.

Yeah, it’s known now that this issue has spanned generations but people have either tolerated it and chalked it up to panel variance, or whatever. The panel lottery is very real with OLEDs.

Like, the uniformity on this new panel is a dream but it has the flashing issue, even with the latest widely available firmware. Not sure what to make of that. Guess this will become the living room TV. While I will miss the overall quality of an OLED in my main home theater area, the 65” Vizio I just got has a great picture too and has great uniformity.

Many companies release firmware sometimes not fully tested. Example Microsoft and Mozilla Firefox (like every 2 weeks). Sometimes if it fixes 80% of the major issues they may release not knowing that somewhere else it just introduced a new bug!

Yes but a computer OS like windows is much more complex than a TV. There will always be bugs and issues, especially when you take all the hardware configurations a computer can have into account. But microsoft makes it easy to just uninstall an update. Actually I just did that with the big Windows10 1903 update because it caused issues on my PC.
Releasing buggy firmware with major issues and not fixing these issues within months and no way to officially downgrade is just pure incompetence and this isn't the first time this has happened...

I can confirm that it is a separate module that connects to the main board with a cable.

Is there any handy and quick way, on the C8, to get to know the signal quality (and level) of the channel (terrestrial or satellite) you are watching?
Something like a "channel info" or similar, which can be recalled with a single move or a few moves?

If LG just fixed this within 2-4 weeks like any other company would have, there would have been very little blowback for them on AV boards.

The gamma botch isn't some little thing only AV forum nerds will notice. It's mentioned everywhere OLEDs are discussed like Reddit or ResetERA.

Hey guys. So I was reading that Technicolor expert uses a metameric white point. So, 0.300, 0.327 instead of 0.312,0.329. Can someone please explain to me what this is, and why it's practical?

About a month ago I posted that I had a dead pixel. This was only 2 months after purchasing my 65C8. I thought I would report back that the panel was replaced with no issues. The entire process took about 10 days. I did have to call LG once or twice more to make sure things were moving along, but overall I am very happy with the process. Just praying the same thing doesn't happen again after 2 years. I did not purchase an extended warranty beyond the second year given by the retailer.

Basically an alternate calibration white point , used to mitigate perceived visual differences . I find it leaning towards green and don’t use it .

Thanks man. I tried pulling up an LG document about it, but I had to go through a sign up process. Forget that. So, wide color gamut TV's look different at d65 than an a normal tv? I kind of see it. I've always thought my calibration looked a little bit reddish compared to my old Sony. How close are the coordinates in Technicolor expert? Might do a calibration on that setting just to see if I like the white point more. Even though it goes against everything I've learned until today.

Yeah try it see if you like it , I prefer a warmer picture myself but it’s subjective.
