Congratulations. It always nice to hear about someone satisfied with their purchase here on the Forum.
Was more changed with .03 than Google assistant?

After the update my PC started in HD deep color/HDR, which it wouldn't do on .02. I would get the message previously then the picture would go black. I also had to turn the OLED light down to 70 from the 80 I ran it at playing a certain game in HDR before. It could probably be turned down a bit more.

For anyone interested, I went through all my files and for all the LG C8 firmware files that I had, I put them together in one folder on my google drive account. The files in the folder are:

04.10.15 (Full Release)
04.10.25 (Full Release)
04.10.55 (Full Release)
05.10.02 (Korean Release ** Good For US TV C8 Models)
05.10.03 (Korean Release ** Good For US TV C8 Models)

All files are already unzipped and just need to be put in a folder named LG_DTV and then that folder put on a flash drive.

****For anyone that used my previous links, those links are now dead. All files I linked to previously are now at the link listed below****

It has been the best yet for me. I think there was more to it than just GA update. Like I said before I could of had a Bad install.
I will try and be a little more clear earlier was from my phone.
There are too many people seeing improvements in this version for GA to be all there is,. I wish I would of taken more readings on .15, .31,.55, and .02 . That way I would of had some proof to go on, but I didn't and the chance is gone.
I think it is actually better than just a operating system update would bring.

Nothing's Impossible if you don't have to do it yourself ! Glenee

FW update problems

Well I'm doing something wrong in trying to up date my FW from 04.10.55 to 05.10.03.

I have Model Oled77C8PUA. Made in US. This my first attempt at updating FW.

I Created a folder on a computer named it LG_DTV and put the new downloaded file fw in it. 05.10.13

Then copied and pasted it into FAT32 clean USB drive (folder and FW) I have since tried another USB drive.

Plugged USB into TV and I get either play *video *or *music *choices. On screen says no music, video or folders found, even tho I see LG_DTV listed as content.

Nothing comes on the screen saying 'update firmware'. Where have I gone astray? @Jrocker23 has been a tremendous help...thank you)

LG 77" Oled C8, LG 55" C7 Oled, Yamaha RX-A780 AVR, Pioneer UDP-LX 500 4K Blu-ray, ATV4K, Roku Streaming Stick+, 7.1 Swan speakers, Polk sub.

It's not automatic.

Go to Settings - General - about this TV and select "check for updates". It should prompt you at that point.

If that's not it, make sure you follow LG's instructions - on the download page they have a set of instructions with every minute detail in

I've always plugged my flash drive into the TV with the firmware in the LG_DTV folder and received a prompt for updating the television!

I did a 'check for updates' and that didn't work, but I formatted my flash drive to FAT 32. Maybe I will try NTFS.

Make a folder on the THUMBDRIVE it's self and name it LG_DTV. Then load the epic. or epix file inside the unzipped file on your computer to the Thumbdrive file LG_DTV. Be sure to open the file LG_DTV on your thumbdrive and put the file in it.
Should do it.

Yes! Bonus also that I actually paid $100 less for this beauty over what I spent on the Samsung although I'll give thier CS some credit I didn't really have to hassle them much for the refund and they were willing to swap me to a q90r 65" but they didn't know when they would get more so I took the refund.

I made the same mistake as dreaux did and then Glenee helped me (in a PM that he sent me) with the same info listed in his post. I had named the file ON MY COMPUTER "LG_DTV," but I had not made a folder ON MY THUMBDRIVE with the name LG_DTV. Your display will only recognize the file if the Thumbdrive has a folder with that name. Once it does, it "works like a charm."

You consider 9.5 feet from a 77” to be “far back” ? I definitely wouldn’t consider sitting closer . I really don’t think that’s a factor.

By what I'm reading he did do that. So I'm thinking maybe the file itself was renamed, it wasn't unzipped correctly for whatever reason, or the thumb drive needs to be formatted differently. I hope he figures it out!

I sit back 8' from my C877 and it's perfect FOR ME! I absolutely LOVE "immersion" and at that distance I get the immersive experience I crave when watching movies. Besides that, when the movie is in the 2.35:1 Aspect Ratio (with letter-boxed bars) it's really nice sitting that close or you lose the immersion experience.

Also, all nine of my speakers (for my Dolby Atmos system) sit between 7' and 7.5' from my "sweet spot" and it sounds incredible. My dual subs sit much farther away but with the Audyssey XT32 calibration they also sound perfect.

I guess what I'm saying is this is a personal (subjective) opinion. chunon said he "definitely wouldn't consider sitting closer." Well, after having my present set up now of 4 months I "definitely wouldn't consider sitting farther away."

You read it wrong, for dreaux specifically said that he "created a file on his COMPUTER named LG_DTV." He should have created a file on his THUMBDRIVE named LG_DTV.

Also, all nine of my speakers (for my Dolby Atmos system) are sit between 7' and 7.5' from my "sweet spot" and it's sounds incredible.

I never said it wasn’t personal preference , for my room 9.5 to 10 feet is optimal , any closer and I see a little too much noise in my satellite feed . I consider 8 feet to be more than reasonable , now the folks that sit 3 feet away that’s not for me

Should do it.

You're right it did do it! Thank you and thank you to all that tried to help.

These instructions are different than the LG support site says to do.
