Overall picture quality, I bet baby steps to most people, I wonder if it will be the C10 or if they are going into a whole different model number........

Nope.

Have to write them all down and re-enter manually.

When I first received my C8, I took the time to write down, in a Word doc ALL of the default settings that my C8 came with. Took awhile but I wanted to do that before I started playing around with the basic settings. I formatted the Word doc to resemble as close as is possible what you would find as you clicked on each Menu/Settings option. That made it easier to check what was changed after an update, or if I didn't like what I changed, I could go back to square one. It's also easier to see how your panel is setup compared to someone else's without being in front of your tv. I've done the same thing for my UHD/BD player, my ATV4k, and the receiver. I even have notes on how to make changes on any of my devices in case I need to change something months or longer after initial setup. User Manuals are by and large useless when it comes to definitions, settings, and what they actually do. It saves yet another call to the CS agents. It is a lot of work but trust me, it's worth it.

Just launched the Xfinity Stream App Beta on the LG. Initial impressions are mixed:

-Picture quality looks similar so far compared to my 4K box. I was hoping for a “wow” difference.
-Sound quality is better especially on Music Choice channels. Many channels are showing DD+ on my Denon through HDMI ARC
-Buggy so far with a few freeze ups
-Guide is lightning fast
-No info on resolution being output on each channel
-Will need to see if I can use this option and remove 4K box to save on the monthly bill

Overall shows some promise

I just got my C8 2 days ago.

It came with the 04.10.30 firmware. I haven't noticed anything wrong with the TV after running a few tests on Youtube.

But that update pop-up is very annoying and I see most people here are on .15 firmware and are not updating. Should I stick to the current .30 firmware to be on the safe side?

You can update to 4.15 with a USB drive if you want. I'm not sure if your update is just one or two before the 4.15 it's probably the same picture quality
I know earlier firmware had problems where the auto dimming was overreacting so you don't want those either. You may as well update to 4.15 via USB. Should be easy enough .You can find the 4.15 file in this thread somewhere to download. You can also block the update nag screen on your TV easily enough from your router. At least I could with my router. Instructions for this were also posted earlier in this thread

Is this app available from within the LG Smart TV apps? I wonder if the picture quality is better than the 720p quality of my TiVo Comcast feed?

Great. I will probably stick to this firmware as I'm having no problems and probably not missing anything major. If the best firmware known is just one or two above my version, I don't think it's worth doing it.

Hopefully they'll come out with a proper firmware version without so many problems in the near future.

Thanks for the tip. I'll do a search to find out about the router blocking

Probably an easily answered noob question, but I can't seem to find the answer.

Is it a way to test if I encounter black crush? I can't seem to find any test on youtube. Maybe an image from a movie which I can compare my C8 to?

That's the opposite of what's happened . MOST people have upgraded, and are benefiting from the work LG have done to address the underlying problems with near-black chroma overshoot on the panels.

You should upgrade.

I wouldn't.. wish I had stayed on the.15 but fell for the "this one has fixed the issues created by the last FW" opinions. I swore I wouldn't... I did...

Yes on the home page. It will ask for a verification code to get it set up. I did some more comparisons and find that I do like the picture quality from the app better.

Just let it go for awhile until you've a chance to really see what it can do. I stayed on .15 for months, with none of the reported issues, and just upgraded to .03 about a month ago. No issues as far as I can tell and the pq is the same as .15.

Good to know. I only pay for 2 of my 3 boxes, but if I could save $10 per month........ Does the app give you complete access to the channels you subscribe to? Don't want to miss my Westerns on MeTV

Excellent! I meant I only pay for 1 of my 3 boxes but still, $120 per year is a $120 per year These are the legacy (1080 only) STBs and I hear Comcrap will be phasing these out in lieu of their 4k boxes, at additional costs I'm sure.

You cannot downgrade once you updated to the 05.xx firmware. Apps don't work either.

You've asked the exact same question about 5 times now. The answer will not change. It doesn't matter how many times you re-post the same FAQ. It's pointless you ignoring the answers and then just re-posting the question. This has been discussed and answered hundreds of times for over 4 months.

Please stop.

If you would just read though this forum, you can adjust your settings and get rid of the crushed blacks.

It's not hard to do but if you just want to complain, don't expect much back in replies

Well it's just insulting to those of us who try to help and give the answer the first time. And the second. And the third. It's effectively accusing us all of lying. And not responding to the answers, but instead just waiting for a bit and then re-posting the question as if we hadn't replied - is also obnoxious. And that's if there was NO search feature where she could have found out for herself. It's not as if there aren't thousands of posts on the subject and we're all sick of it...
