Are you sure you're not confusing this with 5.20.0X? I don't think there was a 5.20.10 weeks ago...

5.10.20 is definitely new, it can't be older than a few days as I regularly check for FW...

edit: nevermind searching back it seems there was a 5.20.10, I guess that one wasn't available for the EU. All this firmware numbering with different branches is confusing...

Again, the appeal to please NOT shorted the version numbers because of the confusion. I've amended the quote for clarity

I won't be cautious to update at all, nor will I be trigger-happy. What happened between 4.10.15/20 and 5.10.03 was [my personal view follows!]: a very very long period of testing, with only two public releases (4.10.31 and 4.10.55). It was agonisingly long. These releases both had a broken gamma curve giving "crushed" blacks. Such was the consternation about those versions, and desperation to repair the damage that lots of people (recklessly, IMHO) installed engineering test versions which were never ever meant for public use, and so some people are unfortunately now stuck forever on a 5.20.* version, and will not ever be able to install an LG public firmware from the 5.10.* branch.

I have successfully located a stand. Oddly enough I will be attaching it to my B7 and will be returning my C8 due to the much dimmer picture. The lady and I really liked the aesthetics of the C8 stand and was able to Jerry rig it onto my B7 just to see if it was possible. Happy to say I will be the proud owner of a B7 with a C8 stand.

Sorry guys for placing this stupid question, but I have not figured out how to solve it on my C8:

I want to disable the automatic switch to an active (powered) HDMI source once TV powered on!

Namely, I need My TV box running all the time, since I need some programs to work for local need in my network.

Thank you in advance.

I think you'll probably have to disable HDMI-CEC (what LG calls "Simplink"). It's in the General menu. It's a "sledgehammer to crack a nut" solution though.

Hello all. Fresh C8 owner here, and discovering the wonderful world of (O)LED stuck and dead (sub-)pixels.

First panel I got either had or developed a stuck bright pixel quickly. Returned it.

Panel #2 had a total of 5 dead sub-pixels across 5 main colors (deadpixelbuddy.com). Returned it.

Panel #3 now has a total of 4 dead sub-pixels across 5 main colors, and this is making me pause.

Based on searching this thread, the current consensus seems to be:
  • bright stuck pixel - problem
  • few dead sub-pixels - not so much problem
  • odds are more panels produced have some dead sub-pixels than not (I wonder what % a perfect panel production yield is at currently)
If the odds are against getting a perfect panel anyway, then it's a waste of time and energy to try, and might as well keep this one. Am I getting this correctly?

From what I recall it sounds very rare to me. It's seldom brought up here, so I think you must have been unlucky? I think a "dead" sub-pixel is better than a "stuck" sub-pixel probably, I certainly agree with that.

Can you see your problem pixels in normal content, all the time? Presumably you've tried the normal remedies like the "patterns" which try to "nudge" pixels by flashing them hard for a long time.

I think getting a panel with at least one dead (sub)pixel is pretty common. It's just not something people search for and normally you don't see this during video content. Even on colored test pattern it's easy to not see it unless you already know the exact spot where it is...

My first C8 panel had at least two and my current one also has at least one dead sub-pixel. It's not something I search for as I expect that I will find something, so my panel could have even more dead sub-pixels. It took me like half a year until I found the one by coincidence but I never see it during video content even now that I know where it is.
I'm much more concerned about screen uniformity than a dead sub-pixel...

If you all want to see a pure, reference 4K disc (all the way through) you must see Transformers: The Last Knight. The movie sucks but the PQ is off-the-charts!! The CLARITY, DETAILS, COLORS, FLESH TONES, DEPTH, and BLACK LEVELS are simply INSANE.

Seems the only option (but not optimal, since I will need yet another remote on table). Quite strange, on Samsung it can be set.

Very nice transfer. I have 219 4k films and imo, Transformers the Last Knight and Aquaman are the best. It's better than looking at real life, lol. There are some scenes in Aquaman that I had to rewind 2 or 3 times to see the scene again! This was before my C8 was calibrated.{Which it's sad to say, that it is back to that, because of my stupidity}.

I have a 55c8 and 65c8, both hooked to a shield TV and run via harmony. my 65 will randomly pause or sometimes act as if the back button has been hit. it might happen a few times a week, it might go a few weeks without doing it. no big deal.

my 55, however, will randomly turn off while watching something. it's the bedroom TV and gets far less use, but if we're watching an hour show its more likely to happen 2-3 times than to not happen. I chalked it up to harmony and started just using the built in apps and it hadn't happened in a bit, but last night it happened several times. it is paired with an LG soundbar (skm6y) and cec is turned on. it'll turn right back on so it's more of an inconvenience than anything, but it seems to be happening more often. any thoughts?

In the US, tonight's NFL game is being sent by FOX in 4K HDR. But only by certain means.

For streaming, it's only ATV4k, Roku, and Fox Sports app.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be the app for WebOS later than V2.

[QUOTE=grittree;58611512]In the US, tonight's NFL game is being sent by FOX in 4K HDR. But only by certain means.

For streaming, it's only ATV4k, Roku, and Fox Sports app.

For me the PQ on the ROKU FxS app the "4k" is much worse than the Regular HD on YTTV

It's also in 4K on Verizon FiOS in NY. Don't need the app.
