Whoever is running the US site is obviously asleep at the wheel.

I sent an email asking why there are no updates available to download. Maybe if everyone else here did the same they might wake up and update the US site too.

Wtf... The Vudu app has been working great for me lately. The last app update fixed a big issue I was having, where it could see my library but wanted me to purchase movies I already owned again. I'll be choked if I update and that problem comes back again.

The problem with such large manufacturers... now with TV's with some many different capabilities, is that in a FW release, it can have changes not announced to release notes.

A good idea for people with calibration gear is to take some quick measurements of grayscale, color gamut and near black before applying any update, and then take the same measurements after the update, to be sure that the installation of new FW will not require from them to perform a new calibration.

As there different people responsible for different features of these TV's, people from different countries are working on different feature updates, and there variations of boards also, tuners, panels per region etc.
tanman, panasonicst60 and chros73 like this.

You can't downgrade anymore if you are on the 05 firmware. LG has blocked it.

No other methods have been found yet

PS: I got the TV brand new with zero hours and I never used the manual pixel refresh. I know, no big deal I can run it myself if I need to but the information in the manual is incorrect.
I'm a little behind on the thread, but FWIW, once my C8 passed the 2,000 mark when I shut it off it notified me that it would run the pixel refresh. When I turned it on the next day it notified me that it had run the pixel refresh.

Hi all,

I have a 65C8 and I've been trying to set-up my LG Magic remote to control the volume of my my 10 year old Sony receiver(STR-K870P) with no luck!
I've tried the 11 remote types available for Sony in the set-up, none seem to work!

Any ideas? am I stuck using 2 remotes?

Thanks

Get a harmony remote or a new receiver. Remote would be cheaper but a new receiver would help you enjoy more of the tv features most likely as well as being controlled by the TV remote

Been thinking of upgrading, but hard to justify since the system still sounds really good!

Might go the Harmony route!

Yep, I remember that too. Also, the transition from B&W to color in the '60s & SD to HD in the 2000's with those 4x3 commercials stretched to a fat-looking 16x9. Doesn't surprise me the transition from HD to UHD & now UHD HDR etc, has issues (and a format war).

I installed ESPN & Fox broadcast apps on our nVidia Shield (Android) & watched some of last nights NFL game on ESPN. The picture quality was incredible. Out of curiosity I switched to our YouTube TV app on that same Shield & the PQ was awful. Then switched to LG's webOS' YouTube TV app & PQ was very good but not as good as the ESPN app on the Shield. I couldn't tell what was the actual streaming data was on the ESPN app on the Shield (720P, 1080 or 2160?) as the Shield upconverts everything to 2160. Perhaps it's just a higher bit rate than what YouTube TV uses, maybe? Don't know how to check that further.

Looking forward to Thursdays NFL game to check it on the Shield's FOX app. Or, do I need the Fox Sports app?

In retirement, EVERYDAY is a Saturday! ;)

Why am I able to get programs in Dolby Vision through Amazon Fire TV stick, but not through some of the TV apps?

Both the youtube and Prime Video apps are transmitting DV with Fire TV stick, but the TV's youtube and Prime apps are not with the same programs.

If anyone wants to test it out watch Stargate on the TV's Prime Video app and see if the TV says Dolby Vision. It doesn't for me. But does with the 4k Fire TV stick. I'm not sure if I'm missing a setting or what. The same for youtube shows like "The Best Ever Food Review Show". Dolby vision with Fire TV stick, not with the TV's youtube app.

It's been like that since the a day or two before the 5.10.03 update started showing up. Edit: And of course now that I check the site again, it seems they fixed it. Figures.

Probably. It also likely includes more than just the fix to the VUDU app, but they were just minor back end fixes that no one besides LG's webOS devs will care about.

I have had a few clients run into burn in issues, I think 6 have been reported to us. The sets have all been like 3 years old and seems to happen for no rhyme or reason.....

2018 LG C8-E8 Owners' Thread (No Price Talk)

Any C8 owner’s experience a vertical line similar to my C9 below? BB tech is coming out on Saturday and I’m trying to figure what to expect. There are no C9 owners that I know of that’s had this issue. I ha e an extended warranty and if it needs replacing I’d like to upgrade to an E9.

I have seen this reported in the 7 series thread. People seemed to think it was related to a major compensation cycle but I'm unsure if that was ever proven to be the case.
Have you tried running the manual compensation cycle ?

Hopefully your problem isn't the same as I had with my last display (a Sony 940D LCD/LED) which developed a RED VERTICAL LINE from top to bottom. I was told by an authorized Sony Repair shop that the panel was defective and would have to be replaced. They then said, "The cost will be worth more than what your display is worth." The 940D was the early Flagship Model for 2016 and the vertical line occurred AFTER my warranty had expired, so I was forced to "junk it." The good news is I was finally able to get the 77" OLED that I've always wanted (since they had gone down in price significantly). Oh, and I decided to get a 5-year extended warranty for my OLED!

Not many shows on Amazon with Dolby Vision..Tom Clancy, Jack Ryan Season 1 is one show that does Dolby Vision...YouTube doesn't use Dolby Vision on the LG internal app..it does normal HDR 10 and some videos use HLG..By Far the most content you'll find with Dolby Vision is with Netflix.

Suspiria 2018 also has Dolby Vision on Amazon Prime. Only thing besides Jack Ryan Season 1 and I believe Bosch Season 2. So it’️s totally random. Besides Netflix, Vudu and iTunes are the 2 other major DV players.
