Watched TNF on Amazon Prime in Dolby Vision. At least that's what the info on my 77" C8 said it was. The Picture Mode was in Cinema (User) with oled light 50, contrast 100, brightness 52, sharpness 0, color 50, tint 0, which are my correct settings for Dolby Vision. Trumotion on User De-Judder and De-Blur both at 2. Picture looked nothing short of spectacular. No motion issues whatsoever. Eye popping.

I have to agree, even if I was an idiot and didn't, lol. Lg sold 1.06 million OLED units in 2018!

I hope so, I am having him do his express service, which his page states about 90 minutes. I do not know if that includes manual calibrations.

Watched most of the NFL game in 4k last night on the FOX SPORTS app & the PQ was very sharp. I don't know if the game was to be in HDR or HLG or not but noticed what I assumed to be the color red on the player's jerseys was more of a lipstick red. The score banner at the bottom of the screen, however, had "New York" in blue & New England" labeled in a pure red so I wondered if the cameras were not color calibrated correctly or if it was an HDR experiment gone wrong. I checked to see if the C8 had detected HDR but it didn't.

I think it just means fewer inputs/modes but each will have the same care and attention. If he doesn't use the LG's LUTs, then he doesn't use them and you will have settings that you can put back in should you need to using the menus
Or, he does use them with Lightspace/DeviceControl and his webpage's requirement for you to provide a USB stick for settings might mean you get the LUT file to upload using DeviceControl (free software he'll give you). Very interesting. Keep us posted

Sorry, I should of note I was using the Fox Sports app on a Roku Ultra. Can't find many apps of WebOS. I'm not certain but I believe Roku has an exclusive on this app with 4k games. Out of curiosity I checked the game on the Fox Now app & Amazon Prime app & neither were in 4k. We bought the Roku Ultra long before we purchased the C8 so it was just gathering dust for a year until now. Check your Fox Sports app on Firestick Saturday afternoon. On the apps program schedule one of the NCAA football games might be in 4k which would be noted in red.

If there is a big down side to LG sets it's WebOS. WebOS lacks many apps which are available on Roku & Android (don't know about Apple TV). It would be in LG's best interest to bring WebOS up to speed.

I didn't get the "HDR" badge when using the app on my Roku Ultra. It was sharp, and I flipped back and forth between Dtv and the Roku. I really couldn't tell a lot of difference.

Watched Thursday Night Football in "4K" on a Roku Ultra last night. Definitely not in HDR. Picture quality was very good even though its technically upscaled 1080p/60, but it still looks much better than the standard 720p broadcast and there is a noticeable improvement in motion quality vs the 1080i broadcasts from other networks. If they could just add HDR, I'd be very happy. I did find the static TNF graphic screen during commercials a bit odd (not sure why they cant just switch to regular non-4K commercials instead), but overall not bad and a step in the right direction. Hopefully the other networks will soon follow.

There is basically no chances to take. Burn in is rare if a tv is used normally. I never had an issue on my C6, c8 or my current c9

nice 5 I'm still a little surprised that you see that much of a difference. You've done all the basics like using warm2 colours, Eco off, Auto colourspace (the default of "wide" is particularly naughty), OLED light 30, etc?

Not going to see 4k commercials for awhile. Overall, I agree that simply adding HDR to 1080P content would be sufficient.

Tonight's Florida and LSU game on ESPN will be in native 4K and Dolby Atmos. So far it will be shown on Directv and Comcast and will have no HDR. Keep bringing the 4K Football! https://www.sportsvideo.org/2019/10/...lege-football/

Yes, everything back to basic, started with Rtings, then tweaked a little from here. Wide in Game mode can't be changed. To be honest, I think it has more to do with me sitting 2 feet from my screen 10-12 hours a day{Due to work and everything else}. I see a lot more of the perfections and imperfections. I could be wrong though.

Basic settings are as follows, with Gamma at 2.2 and White Balance, Etc, is at default. FW is 05.20.10

Expert Dark. All PP turned off. Just for PC on HDMI 4

OLED Light: 35
Contrast: 85
Brightness: 50
Tint: 0
Color: 50
Sharpness: 20. Seems a little soft to me at 0.

Directv Cinema on HDMI 1

OLED Light: 44
Contrast: 85
Brightness: 50
Tint: 0
Color: 50
Sharpness: 20. Seems a little soft to me at 0.

Xbox 1 X and PS4 Gaming on HDMI 2

OLED Light: 44
Contrast: 85
Brightness: 50
Tint: 0
Color: 50
Sharpness: 11
Color Temp: W40

Cinema for the LG UBK90 4K Player, on HDMI 3

OLED Light: 44
Contrast: 85
Brightness: 50
Tint: 0
Color: 50
Sharpness: 11

Of course, when any type of HDR is used, nothing is touched. When Gamma is offered, it is at 2.2. With anything that can be auto, that is where it is.

This is great for DirectTV customers with the proper STB and package, as for actual Comcast cable customers 4K is a pipe dream. Yes the 1080P broadcast looks really good but actual cable broadcasts look to be years away from anything in 4K, and yet 8K manufacturers are already in their infancy without any actual true 8K content. The video side of the industry has a lot of catching up to do.

I am a Comcast cable subscriber with a 4K box living the pipe dream flipping between 3 different 4K Football games right now. Fox and NBC have the 1080P to 4K upconvert plus HDR games going on. And ESPN has the first pure 4K college football broadcast on but without HDR. Also the Dolby Atmos sound on the ESPN and NBC broadcasts sound great. All 3 look phenomenal.

Hey guys,

Over the last few weeks, my LG C8 has randomly been powering off by itself. It happens in different apps and different inputs so I very much doubt HDMI-CEC has anything to do with it. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm just outside my 1 year warranty period but thankfully, have extended warranty from my credit card if needed.

Thanks

It's just weird because I've had CEC enabled for over a year and not experienced this issue. Also, we just moved and before I connected anything other than my Verizon box to the TV, the same thing occurred. I no longer have the Verizon box connected (back to TiVo) and it's still occurring. Annoying thing is there's no way to replicate. It happens very randomly.

Yeah I understand the frustration for me I think it was the Apple TV 4K that was the culprit .
