Safe space? LOL. It's called staying on topic. So we should just randomly talk about anything and everything in every forum, sub-forum and thread?

Please tell me that you guys are joking right ? I only made the observation as I own both the C8 and Q9NF there both good sets this year like it or not.

These forums are not a place to bully others and I for one do not appreciate it. In any owners thread or topic ect other sets come up because we all have opinions and want to share news . That's what forums are for !

Also if you go to the Samsung thread I invited anyone to come by and look with there own eyes, in fact I say it here to. If anyone wants to come see the C8 the Q9NF the W7 the Z9D the 940E and many other toys your all more then welcome to come out and chill at my place in NJ.

I had two Forum members come by and we had a blast lots of fun.

So I will continue to post my OPINION wherever I want. I am a ISF tech with the best tools for calibration and I have trained with some of the best in the the industry and you know what they made me learn ?

Everyone has there own impressions on what is the best display for them. Not to mention there environment if they have kids or many other things that can dictate what display they get. Not any one person has the right to tell another what is good and what is not. It's just an opinion.

So please stop making yourselves look like fools and enjoy this forum and all the information it gives to everyone.

I've attached a 5% slide. It appears "brighter" as I increased the ISO as my camera was making strange effects in the low light. This one is more commensurate with what I'm seeing for uniformity in person.

That looks sweet even at that brightness. Keep’em coming. I see a bunch of panels like that in the coming months I’ll take a chance and pull the trigger for a new unit.

I hope the Sony units fair as well if we see a trend toward this kind of uniformity.

Fald with much improved black levels and active hdr(HDR+ HDR10+) .. Man shootouts will be epic this year.

That is a very nice 5% slide. I’ve got slight bands on my c7 and light feather vignetting off the sides. Typically not noticeable in content, but darker movies and some space movies you can still tell a little. Hopefully I’ll be getting my c8 from value electronics within a week or 2

Everyone doing lateral TV trade-ins yearly/biyearly, I can no longer do that! It's up up and away (especially since they killed 3D) from now on (to a point of course; the logistics involved in moving beyond 90" or so would likely require a retractable TV or projector).

lol honestly HDR10+ and DV will look very close to one and other. HDR+ will give non HDR10+ content the rub to look like DV just like active HDR on Oled.. Honestly once you get up to 2000 nits DV advantage really diminishes. I think DV and HDR on MY oled are top notch but IMO this year for HDR atleast OLED will have competition from Q9.

Heck even the z9d from Sony was phenomenal for hdr. I think the hdr punch from leds looks phenomenal, but when I had my z9, I had to have some lights up or else sometimes the brightness would strain my eyes. I feel oleds provide a comfortable bright for a controlled light room

Thanks for posting the photo of your 55C8. Most photos this bright don't show banding. What TV settings did you use? ISF Dark defaults with OLED light at 35 would be best for comparing to the dozens of pictures we have of the 2016/2017 models.

There is a visible circular highlight in the center that fades out towards the borders almost like it was taken with a flash. Is the circular vignetting as bad in person as in this photo?

No flash of course you'd see a huge glare. That center highlight is what was causing issues with my Galaxy S8+ at very low light levels of doing the 5% in a black room. It would make the center brighter and the edges darker, something I'm not seeing in person. It definitely has less jailbars than my C7 had, to the point it's almost not worth talking about anymore with the C8.

That was taken in PC input game mode with OLED light at 30 in a pitch black room.

Cool. Good call keeping OLED light low in PC mode to extend panel life when displaying static PC content. As a bonus it also reduces the ABL dimming.

I suspected the circle of elevated brightness was from camera since I've never seen circular vignetting like that on any OLED.

Based on yours and jrref's 55" samples, it looks like LG has at least gotten vertical banding down to 2016 levels or better for this small screen size. I wonder if the 55" panel are coming from a different line than the 65". Will be interesting to see if the 77" turns out closer to the 55" or 65" this year.

Keep us updated if you notice any vertical banding while gaming. The constant horizontal panning that's common in many games tends to bring it out more than most other content.

The vertical banding on near black is WAY better than my C6. If I remember correctly my C7 was better than the C6 too, but not by nearly as much as my C8.

I've also been doing some HDR gaming on the PC. Some games like BF1 has the score-board up top that blasts blue and red. I have pixel shift on and logo dimming set to high. But I haven't noticed any hud items dim yet. I don't know what sort of algorithm that item uses. I wonder if it is very subtle.

Normally I wouldn't worry about BI, but HDR blasts some static items pretty bright. I guess after gaming I can bring up some grey slides to see if there is any image retention.

Got my 65". So far so good. Will give you the banding report once I've got some hours on it, but I did play a little SoT and didn't notice any (not the case on my C7) so that is good.

Normally I wouldn't worry about BI, but HDR blasts some static items pretty bright. I guess after gaming I can bring up some grey slides to see if there is any image retention.
I wonder if the logo dimming requires some additional processing that is disabled in game mode to reduce lag. Might be worth testing the same game temporarily outside game/pc mode to see if you notice any difference.
