My 65C8 will arrive tomorrow. Is it possible to unbox and set it up alone without the risk of damaging something or is a second person definitely required?

Any one upgraded from a C7 to c8 and see much of an improvement?
HDR brightness aside as I don’t need anymore brightness .

I tried to do it alone but had to get my neighbor to help me because it's just too big at 65 to do it yourself unless you got some wide ass arms. Better to be safe and have somebody help you, don't want to throw away that much dough.

Two people are best but I have done it alone in the past but again as said above get a friend to help, just make sure not to flex the screen when putting it down to add the base or when wall mounting it. So make sure to support it in the right places unless they changed the frame this year (less flexible etc.)

Yeah I would say two people. To me it's like moving a giant potato chip.

This could all change, and I don't know if it is related to the brightness change, but I am not noticing any banding in content that I did previously in my C7. That is a major improvement for me if it holds up. It also just looks great, though I am not enough of a videophile to tell you if that is anything other than placebo. 😂

I did it alone, but it was definitely less than ideal.

One key is be sure to follow the instructions in the box. And when you lay it down, make sure you are laying it down with the "front" side up so you can actually install the stand.

I really think the only time you *really* need someone is picking it up to move to the TV stand.

Watch a youtube video so you know how to approach it first. Thats what I did and I did it myself. BUT get another person to help I was scared as hell lol because the this screen was flexing a bit.

Hard for me to say for certain, but I don't think so based on what I've seen for others. I mostly didn't notice it, except in the 5% slide and really specific content (Sea of Thieves being particularly bad). It was enough to convince me that (being within my return period) I should give the C8 a try given reports on the banding.

Thanks for the info. If you do take any pics drop in the uniformity thread. I imagine a lot of people would like to see some positive images for a change.

Vertical banding. I didn't notice any color banding on C7 and haven't looked closely for it on my C8 yet.

That's one of the cleanest 5% OLED screen shots I've ever seen.

Let's hope near-black uniformity like this represents the center if the 2018 bell curve and not the outliers...

But in any case, congrats - look like you got a keeper .

I had 10 2016 sets to get one like that , this was my first 2017 set so I was very happy with it and still am TBH tinting is also very good but I’m thinking of setting up a games room so a c8 could be what I’m looking for or I’ll use the c8 as the main tv and put the c7 in there .

Anything under 35kilos i do it most of the times alone with 1 simple rule, the belt rule.
Just don't wear anything that if it touches the screen when you are with both hands and you have the tv, like jeans or something with zipper and offcourse belt in trousers.
I wear my pyjamas for this kind of work :-) and i can easy touch the screen with my belly with no worries.

I’m sorry but a 55” C7 is 1699.99. While a 55” C8 is close to 3K?

I’ll take the Sony A8F at that point, even with LGs new A9 chip, the X1 chip still beats it. Pricing here is a little confusing.

Wait until November and the 55C8 will be cheaper than the 55C7 today. Same apply for the 55A8F. That's how OLED TV prices work.

Yeah, but I am a little surprised they jumped the C8's up this weekend to match A8F pricing. A few hundred less and they have a very good advantage, same price, not really.

B&H is still selling it for the launching price so you can have Best Buy matching the price

Remember this is a long run price marathon. LG and Sony want to sell the more they can at launching price, then during the year prices go down to almost 50% on LG and 40% on Sony. Sony will always be a bit more expensive compared to LG. I guess due the fact that panels are made by LG? Anyways, this year looks like prices could be very close to the $1000 mark, at least for the B8.
