Lg C8 or sony Af8

Which one to buy?
I liked E8, but I do not really like the glass, if I want to put the glass on the wall? I like the E7 more.
I liked the C8 a very thin tv, but the base did not like it very much, but I think putting the wall so it looks more beautiful
The sony is very beautiful but more expensive

Which one has the best image quality?
what is the best? What is your idea?

thank you

Hi, you can find a short comparisons from
and very soon from HDTVtest on YouTube.

If I had to choose one right now, I’ll buy the cheaper.

Either are great TVs. The A8 is more accurate out of the box if you aren’t doing a calibration and has better audio if you aren’t using external sound. The C8 is currently on sale for a little less money. The A1E is also the same price as the C8 currently, however it will stick out from the wall about 1.5” more when mounted and isn’t quite as bright unless you happen to get a set with this years panel.

Here's what RTINGS says in their review of the Sony A8F: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/a8f

Overall, performance is very similar, so since the C8 is cheaper it is the better buy.

the upgrade is not slight in terms of motion ,the sony blows the doors off of lg for motion. I had an lg ,its gone because of the motion .

I think this is a great take on both these sets. However, when I compared both at a local Video store the LG looked sharper running the same Blu-ray. It's hard to know how these TVs were adjusted, but given the lower price of the LG and the fact it looked better in person, I went with the C8.

I am curious about the opinions of the calibrators like D-Nice. He recommended the C8, unless somebody prefers the Sony build quality, aesthics and name.

Cant say i dont agree with you but i guess it happens all the time. There is one over on the LCD side now with the 940E vs 900F.

Realistically people should just go to shop and pick what suits them but really no harm in asking. And if the thread truly bothers you just dont enter it, because as has been said there is likely to be plenty more.

Haha yeah i never get the "i own therefore its the best" mentality. I come from owning only Sony branded TVs. Had some terrible luck with the 940E but the whole time Sony were fantastic. Reason i went for the LG were because it suoted me. Slightly brighter and IMO it LOOKS AESTHETICALLY better. Thats why i opted for the E8. The picture in glass looks nice. Sure the motion isnt as good. And the smooth gradation i miss terribly. The BFI also gives more control on the Sony with the clearness setting. But the LG suited me more.

Also i do apologise my reply above was supposed to be tounge in cheek. I thought i put a tongue emoji but it wasnt there. Completely changes the tone of the response.

They are essentially the same. Sony has better motion but IMO its not that big of a difference to be worth the price. The C8 gets brighter for a more intense HDR image. Take your pick.

Sony has a bit less brightness but it's not very significant, I think.
Already now I read somewhere in a review that Sony does not have as much brightness as the LGs to avoid precisely burn-in, is it true?
My room does not have much light, I think the sony is better.

Sony has nicer design, little better motion according to "many" including pro reviews from flatpanelshd and a little better upscaling according to many.

LG better gaming, full bandwidth hdmi on all if you need it, more HDR "pop" (brighter), dynamic tonemapping on HDR10, dolby vision support now!

If sony had DV now it would be harder to chose. I feel upscaling and motion is VERY important to me but DV also and Sonys trackrecord on that update is so bad.

Still very conflicted, maybe hdtvshootout in june can make me decide

LG images are flat. Sony images have depth and dimension. Not to mention better motion handling. If you can afford it go with Sony. A1E is basically the same as A8 and is cheaper (better build quality too).

Was at Best Buy the other day. Guy showed me a white room image upscaled on Sony vs. C8. On Sony, it was perfect with all details. On LG it had horrible pockmarks all over to make it look like a popcorn ceiling. Not sure if it was bad configuration or just the TV. This image. If you have access to either, try it and respond to say how it looks.
