The tv will come out more expensive than the a8f, at least 1.5x price. A9F is their flagship model replacing the A1E, a8f is not the flagship model.
Whether you should wait or not depends on what you want. If cost is the consideration, get the a8f, if better processing you're after and can pay more, then wait for the a9f reviews to come in. though a9f would be better than the a8f, there will be no generational upgrade, the panel defines most of the tv in an oled, a9f still using the 2018 lg display panel found in the a8f.
I’m in India and currently, the A1 model is cheaper than the A8F, and seeing how it came out recently, I assumed the A8 was the flagship. There’s no difference between the two apart from the stand, right?
I’m not too concerned about the Android OS as I figured I can use the PS4 Pro for Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon Prime. After the recent patch by Sony, it can accept Dolby Vision from the PS4’s Netflix app, I guess?
And the native Sony Amazon Prime app has HDR, yes?
The only reasons I thought about waiting for the A9F was: better speakers (how much better though, I wonder. I may end up using my Sony HTiB instead), possibly more brightness, better colors.
But if it’s the same panel as the A1, then there won’t be any improvements in these departments? If I understand correctly, the improvement will be from better factory calibration for uniformity, and a new algorithm for picture quality?
I wonder how big of an improvement it will actually be.
Last question: I like how the sound from these Sony models comes from wherever the character is onscreen (left/right/above, etc). If I use the A9F as the center speaker to supplement my HTiB setup, will this cool characteristic carry over?
Oh btw, the A1E and the A1 are the same, right? Just a U.S/Europe naming difference, yes?
