Yes I was certain it was I just have to figure out how to the tv.

Thanks gentlemen for all the info and input. It's really appreciated.
If you have the A9F connected to your home network and already have the harmony setup to control the A9F (presumably via IR), delete the A9F from your Harmony devices and then do the scan to add it back via WiFi connection (IP control).

This is a A9F owners thread so I am sure the answer will be yes...... Yes it is better along with better video processing. No question if the Sony and LG where the same price, the Sony would out sell the LG everyday......

Here's how I would rate the motion settings:

Motionflow Custom "Off" + Cinemotion "Off" => some love/prefer this setting (I'm looking at you Tom Cruise!), to me its a stuttering mess and the strobe effect is unbearable
Motionflow Custom "1" or "Minimal" + Cinemotion "Off" => the effect is so minuscule and the strobe effect is still annoying in fast panning scenes
Motionflow Custom "2" + Cinemotion "Off" => probably the best setting available on the A9F and works OK in most scenes, no SOE and artifacts are rarely occurring (maybe except for the motorbike chase scene in James Bond Skyfall) and the strobe effect is at least minimized to a bearable state
Motionflow Custom "3" + Cinemotion "Off" => no improvement, basically identical to Custom 2
Motionflow Custom "1" + Cinemotion "On" => basically identical to Motionflow Custom "2" + "Cinemotion "Off", no SOE
Motionflow Custom "2" + Cinemotion "On" => Now the Soap Opera Effect is kicking in which can produce smooth motion but introduces loads of artifacts. It's weird to me how the effect of Motionflow takes a huge jump from Custom "1" to Custom "2" and I can't help feeling that there should have been an intermediate setting between those too with slightly less strobe effect but no introduction of SOE.
Motionflow Custom "3" + Cinemotion "On" => The Soap Opera Effect is in full throttle now, probably the smoothest outcome but also maximizing the artifacts on screen, so a big no no.

For the most part, Skyfall looks great on the A9F and I also tested Custom 1 and Cinemotion Off... I'm specifically talking about the motorbike chase scene on the rooftop as a worst case example.

All of my Sony’s are hardwired to the network and I have zero issues using IP control. You will have to troubleshoot your network and/or TV settings to figure out why you cannot connect.

Are there any advantages to IP control vs IR other than not requiring line of site?

One advantage I could see is that you wouldn't have to point the remote at the display.

That's what is meant by line of sight.

I had to delete the tv and re-add it. Editing the device and re-scanning did not find it but after deleting and adding it found it no problem!

It looks and sounds amazing with a compatible AVR. It wasn't after all a marketing pitch. I recommend 'Journey to the South Pacific'. Updated my Sony AVR with to latest firmware with Imax enhanced mode last night and surround sound is great, clear dialog and better channel separation!! Visuals are amazing too.

Hadn’t noticed an update was already available for my Sony ZA5000ES for IMAX Enhanced. Thanks for posting.

Having an issue with the default program guide app.
When I press "guide" button the guide loads fine.

When I click into any show, I have an option to "view" which switches to that show, or "search by title" - when I press this it gives me a message "you don't have permission to use this feature due to your restricted profile's settings"

I've triple checked, I don't have any restricted profiles setup.
Also checked the app permissions, nothing out the ordinary there either.

Note : I'm in Australia, so the American program app may be different.

Any help appreciated.

Is it fine to not calibrate this TV? Sounds like using accurate PM may get one “close enough.” I mean it seems reasonable to say that one should calibrate a display of this price, but not everyone has access to a reputable calibrator. I like most people have never seen a calibrated display outside of a movie theater

So I have been using Smoothness=1 & Cinemotion=Auto since day one (it's how Jrref had it set after calibration). So after reading the motion posts, I dragged out the Skyfall BD and cued up the motorcycle scene. With everything off, there is a tiny bit of judder and some blurring, but nothing terrible. Smoothness=Min reduces the judder, and Smoothness=1 removes the judder with no SOE (at least to my eyes). The Cinemotion setting seems to have minimal or no effect on 24fps - which is what I expected given what I recall from Vincent's video.

Bottom line is I think the 1/auto is the sweet spot, which is what most were recommending shortly after release.

I have a question about audio from the A9F. I'm trying to get a signal from the Optical out on the A9F but when I hook up the cable and set the AVR to use that input I'm not getting any sound. I feel as if I'm overlooking something simple but I've just spent 30 mins on this and still have no audio.

Thanks

Go into tv's menu under sound-It has a choice between tv speakers or audio system.
