Here's how I would rate the motion settings:
Motionflow Custom "Off" + Cinemotion "Off" => some love/prefer this setting (I'm looking at you Tom Cruise!), to me its a stuttering mess and the strobe effect is unbearable
Motionflow Custom "1" or "Minimal" + Cinemotion "Off" => the effect is so minuscule and the strobe effect is still annoying in fast panning scenes
Motionflow Custom "2" + Cinemotion "Off" => probably the best setting available on the A9F and works OK in most scenes, no SOE and artifacts are rarely occurring (maybe except for the motorbike chase scene in James Bond Skyfall) and the strobe effect is at least minimized to a bearable state
Motionflow Custom "3" + Cinemotion "Off" => no improvement, basically identical to Custom 2
Motionflow Custom "1" + Cinemotion "On" => basically identical to Motionflow Custom "2" + "Cinemotion "Off", no SOE
Motionflow Custom "2" + Cinemotion "On" => Now the Soap Opera Effect is kicking in which can produce smooth motion but introduces loads of artifacts. It's weird to me how the effect of Motionflow takes a huge jump from Custom "1" to Custom "2" and I can't help feeling that there should have been an intermediate setting between those too with slightly less strobe effect but no introduction of SOE.
Motionflow Custom "3" + Cinemotion "On" => The Soap Opera Effect is in full throttle now, probably the smoothest outcome but also maximizing the artifacts on screen, so a big no no.
