Chomecast is working fine with youtube and my friend tested on his a8f and works but he still on android 7.

Can someone test please test i dont want to factory reset if going to be for nothing, Ive tested on both my note 8 and ipad so its either the TV or the app having compatibility issue with oreo.

I was skeptical too but the packing bag does have the certification QR code. Cost is about $8 more than Monoprice but I have Crutchfield reward dollars to make the cost low. If you like I will take a pic of the packaging tomorrow and post it.

I ran the cable from a Sony 4K disc player to the A9F today and it performs as I expected it to.

The downside to 4K is I will now have a lot of cables that worked for HD that might not work for 4K

Tv shows whether on broadcast or streaming and movies too I don’t have cable no more I cut the cord. No gaming either
I think it’s takes a lot for burn in and abuse also like watching something static for hrs and hrs day in and day out every day. That’s what I consider abuse.
Also like a normal person who works all day
I watch tv maybe 3-4 hrs at most in the evening and I would do my heavy tv watching on weekends or days off which would be binge watching a tv show or a few UHD movie streaming or disc.
I think those who are scared of burn in are being very paranoid and unless you abuse your tv with static images you should be fine. I don’t go outta my way not to watch something or babysit the tv for fear of burn in!
I would consider myself as having normal viewing habits yet I ended up having burn-ins from my OLED's internal apps....
Which model OLED is this out of curiosity?
I had a Samsung Plasma for 4 years with no problem. I sold it to a friend and 3 years later the tv has burn in at 7 years old! They obviously have different viewing habits then I did , and are not enthusiast so most likely abused the tv! He is married with a child and I live alone so the usage is very different!

When I looked at street price dealers I had to pass due to no warranty provided and bait&switch tactics I was reading about when I researched the dealer.

I purchased the set and could not find any defects. All the ancillary hardware was still in factory sealed packages. The factory warranty is a deal breaker for me, I need the warranty.

I do appreciate your input. TY

I set up the A9F yesterday in a temporary mode for 2 weeks. I am working through the setup issues and fixing them one by one. It is tough for me to use the on line manual, my last two Sony TV's had a paper manual. I finally figured out how to find a USB storage device and reaffirmed the process when using the online troubleshooting manual to research another problem.

I do have a USB question: I downloaded a few Sony demonstration videos on to a USB storage device. When playing the file on the A9F every now and then there is a flicker of the audio and video that is really small. I am using a 3.0 USB thumb drive for the files. Has anyone else encountered the same problem? I am guessing that the file transfer, from the USB thumb drive, cannot keep up with the on board video processor. I am using a San Disc 32gb USB drive.

Sony XBR65A9F, Denon X4400H, Sony UBP-X1000ES, Apple TV 4K, Denon DCM-444, Verizon FIOS, Harmony Elite. Dolby ATMOS implemented by Klipsch.

Has anyone used A9F as a center speaker? How does sound? I’m in the process of buying in ceiling speakers (bowers & wilkins ccm662) and I was going to use the A9F for the center.

I use the A9F as a centre speaker with an Arcam 390, I have Quad 22L2 for Lf +Rf, once Dirac has done its thing the A9F sounds just fine to my ears

Hope you broke in before. OLED do have break in period around 300 hours.

That said i wish there was way to backup presets when like new firmware release. its really common for something getting messed up in process.

I don't recall reading about any settings changes caused by a firmware upgrade. If you're talking about how a particular feature or function operates then yes, that is quite possible, but as far as calibration settings, no. There may be a case out there where it's happened but to call it common would be incorrect.

No people including myself have had to run restore after firmware because something got messed up or not working properly it happens it would be cool to have backup feature. ATM i think i have to restore because for some reason some shortcuts for games not showing even google play doesnt have open option only way is to open is to for to apps in setting and info/open. Same with HBOgo i cant chromcast but i can from youtube and my friend can also...**** happens throwing money away when you have no choice but to do factory reset.

Backup preset feature and listing HDR/DV..ect on display info screen are long overdo.

Has any1 notice power supply hissing/high-pitch sound when playing clips with bright scenes on A9F, most distinctly @ max brightness with HDR10 is enable?

eg when i play this
@max brightness & HDR10 enable setting i can hear a faint hissing/high-pitch sound coming from the power transformer, some bright scenes in Jacob+Katie Schwarz's Morocco 8K HDR 60FPD
also reproduce this hissing sound behaviour as well.

Have not noticed the hissing.

This is my first TV with no paper manuals to speak of. I am having a small problem getting used to using an on line install manual and a general information manual. I did start to use the help app built into the tv and it feels like a mixed bag of information.

I was having a problem with Prime video playing some videos with no problems and on other videos there was a lot of buffering. I finally used the on line help and it directed me to unplug the tv and plug it back in. That fixed the problem. I was not experiencing any problems with Netflix streaming.

We start the living room remodeling this coming Saturday. The A9F will not be connected for a week. I hope to mount it on the wall the following Saturday and begin the new AV install the same day.

So bizarre this high-end tv does not have Youtube HDR, but a newly released low-end one (x95G) has it.

windows can't be trusted

i feel like breaking something at this point, i hate windows in every single way, it never goes into screensaver when it should so i stopped trusting screensaver and wen't to standby instead making the screen go into standby after 1 min it works most of the time but not always i no longer trust it now, this time it decided not to work, so i had a white notification window in the corner over an entirely black wallpaper (nothing but the wallpaper and that one white notification window) i am not sure how long it's been there but based on my notifications it had been there for 12 min but i am not sure, theres no visible burn in no sign of any type of burn in, but did this still wear out those specific pixels? i use a sony af9 oled tv, i am having a mild panicattack right now and i feel really angry i feel like calling windows all kinds of swear words now, note the tv is brand new i had it like 1-2 days.

You answered your own question. Breathe deeply into a brown paper bag (and don't use OLED as a monitor, not good for your psyche!).

^^^^^ I agree. Using an OLED as a computer monitor, all of the time, is definitely not a good idea. I use my MacBook Air occasionally with my OLED but if I go away for a few minutes and come back, the screensaver is on.

I don't concur with your concurrence. I use oled for roughly 7 hours daily as a win10 pc monitor because i have no other monitor, it's been about 8 months. though i dont have a sony, it's a lg c8. i dont use windows screensaver. i have an animated wallpaper on the desktop which repeats an animation every few seconds, the taskbar is set to auto hide, only the recycle bin icon is there on the desktop and the oled light is set to 18 (on a scale of 0 to 100, it hops to 100 when hdr videos or movies are played).
Am i supposed to freak out or be scared that burn in is going to devour my tv one day? i dont give into fear mongering.

Nothing happened chill out, a few minutes more of the wallpaper showing on screen won't damage the tv, unless you had the oled light/luminance set to maximum or close to maximum and the wallpaper has bright colors (generally speaking, avoid a wallpaper with bright reds, blues etc.). Windows screensaver is not trustworthy, sometimes you would set to it to come on after 3 minutes but nothing would happen. Though i dont use any screensaver just an animated wallpaper, i would suggest for the future, download a reliable 3rd party software for screensavers (google will help you find them).
Also it's not just about how long one screen is displayed at once, the cumulative time also matters when it comes to aging, you should also keep varying the screens. For example, i try to ensure as long as my desktop screen is displaying, i display a google chrome browser as long.

Finally got a very decent deal on the 65" A9F along with 2 years warranty. Purchased it yesterday. Waiting for store delivery.

I returned the first one due to very expensive and burn-in issue I had on my B6. Really liked the A9F. Was watching video on it frequently. I'll wait for some reviews on the C9 / E9 before getting it delivered at home. Almost bought an E8 few weeks back.

I'm not fear mongering at all. I have a 65 C8 and have no concerns about BI given the way I use mine. Without knowing how he is using his pc/OLED he may or may not have an issue. I personally would not use my OLED as a monitor for my laptop. Especially if you walk away for an extended period of time, but that's just me. You never know what can happen. Your response is a bit harsh.

But I do have everything set to absolute maximum in game mode maximum luminance max brightness max contrast enhance color to 90 everything pretty much max no sign of any burn in, but did it permanently alter the TV or is it entirely fine, I do have a animated wallpaper I also let the taskbar hide keep no icons or anything on that live wallpaper, this time I used a black wallpaper to just let me know what black level setting is completely turned off black, so the picture when I i left the TV was just black as in off with the bright white tiny mouse tucked in the side showinghby a few pixels then when I came back I saw a really bright white chrome notification sittin, I freaked out closed it immediately so I have no idea how long it had been sitting but last notification I can see was 12 min prior there is not a single sign of burn in but I don't know how it works maybe there's invisible wear or is that not a thing? I've used oled tvs as monitors many times startedwwith the curved lg oled back in like 2014 or 15 then af8 and now af9 hence why I'm so skeptical of Screensaver then I realized letting it go in standby always worked until it decided to sometimes not to so I started losing trust there too but not enough now I no longer trust that either I know I'm overthinking this I just need to know that there's absolutely no permanent unnatural alteration on the TV in any way, I honestly love this tv it's perfect and that's why I'm extra sensitive with it, if someone says that no this did not alter the tv in any way it's as if it never happened then i can stop overthinking it, now i am overthinking what if the corner is now more sensitive to burnin because the corner was uneven worn down.
