Now that Samsung has announced availability and pricing for it's new 2019 QLED 4K TV's, hopefully LG will not be far behind.

$3,500 for the top 65" 4K QLED (Q90R) - shipping early March.

I'm anxious to get my hands on a LG OLED C9.

I saw that too. Maybe that will force them into $3500 for C9 assuming they were thinking they could go higher since they have 2.1 etc.

We shall see

What about the 88" 8K OLED? Do you think it will come below the Samsung 85" 8K?

I still think it's likely they at least list C9 65" at $3500, but it's possible maybe it starts actually selling at $3200 or something. Competition is nothing but a good thing, plus OLED costs should be coming down internally at LG with the ramped up production line.

TV sales are about volumes, not margins.

Last year the 65" C8 launched at $3,500 when the 65" Q9 was $3,800. With Samsung dropping prices, we might see a drop on the C9. It won't be as low as $3,000 like a few people are hoping to see.

The real question is how low will street price drop by Memorial Day sales? Looking over deals threads, street prices were around 75-80% of the way to the lowest prices at Black Friday.

C7 owner here.

Would upgrading to a C9 be a good idea? My main issue with the C7 is vertical banding. Most noticeable in gray scenes.

I think that an upgrade could be worth when oled top emission arrives. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the panel differences since 2017 are not big.

TBD. The question for us that have one with good dark uniformity is do you take a chance on a 2019 model that may or may not have marginal improvements in other aspects of PQ?

For me the real question is what will happen to 77C9 pricing if the sub $5,000 price for Samsung's Q90 75" is confirmed.

Scientifically there is no way to correct you one way or the other but my impressions are the 2018 models at least got back on track with the 2016 models in terms of banding.

Interesting enough though Danny Tack/Philips said in an interview with Vincent Teoh/HDTVtest there would be no difference with the 2018 panels in terms of nits but did point out there are a couple of solutions implemented with the 2019 panels for anti burn in.

We should be finding out soon enough. The C8 was listed on Amazon on February 13th last year. The C7 was posted on Amazon on February 17th of 2017. So possibly this week if history has any say in it.

I'm curious about whether this is referring to the change in the relative size of the subpixels or if LG has improved on the compensation system.

I understand that LG doesn't want to mention burn-in at all, so they don't promote these features. But it makes it awfully difficult for consumers to gauge whether they are major or minor improvements.

if you look in the info it shows date first available which is when the product site went up, but not live for sale.

Agreed, that admission from Philips' TV guru really stood out because I don't think LGD wanted that to be publicly known.

I don't recall this information being released at CES, but was anyone able to confirm which Ethernet port speeds were being used on the 2019 sets? Since all previous OLED's from LG are unable to play high-bitrate 4k Blu-Ray files (eg Lucy, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk) via their 100Mbps ports without buffering, I'm hoping they have finally upgraded to gigabit ethernet, especially since 8k is available on some models.

Doubtful? It has an older chip (A7) so it’s not the latest A9 rev2 chipset. I presume that is needed for hdmi 2.1 things you mentioned.

From the first post in the thread: And through the inclusion of HDMI 2.1 ports, all 2019 OLED TVs and select NanoCell TVs with ThinQ AI will support high frame rate (HFR).

The B9—LG's entry-level OLED TV insomuch as that phrase makes sense—will ship with a 2nd-gen Alpha 7 processor, so it will miss out on some of the big features.

Google around. That is from here:

Hmmm more conflicting info: this was taken from the B9 page on the lg site https://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-OLED55B9PUA-oled-4k-tv

The HDMI 2.1 standard will be featured across all LG’s OLED models for 2019, enabling support for high frame rates (HFR) up to 120 frames per second, including the LG B9 4K HDR Smart OLED TV w/ AI ThinQ® - 65" Class (64.5" Diag), Model # OLED65B9PUA. The new OLED TVs will be compatible with variable refresh rate (VRR) as well as low latency mode (ALLM). They will all feature support for AirPlay 2 and HomeKit...^IFV

I would believe the info coming from LG rather than some magazine. Sounds like the B9 will have HDMI 2.1, an upgraded processor, and the same features as the C9 and above. Personally, I will likely go with the C9 with the better processor, which should provide better upscaling and better motion handling.
