Raleigh...no it was $100/year for that...$300 for 3 years or $500 for 5 years. you can still go back and add it within your return period...

If/when you capture any photos of your near-black uniformity (4% or 5% fields) it would be great if you could also snap pics of near black fields with BFI @ 50% (mefium) and 755 (high). You'll need to increase OLED Light to compensate for the loss of brightness (25% loss @ 50% BFI and 50% loss @ 75% BFI).

If photos are to much trouble, just a impression as to whether BFI improved near-black uniformity would be great.
i guess it's pretty cool to be owner #1 on here, but i think Mark H. and others got their units from VE earlier this week...just didn't post about it here yet.

i'm hoping that once i set it up i don't notice anything immediate to go and look at the 5% (banding) and 100% white (tint)...but then again being one of the first to own one, if i do take a peek and post those pics i'm sure someone from LG is watching LOL

I don't count Mark H. , any professional calibrator, or anyone 'in the biz' - when it comes to plain ol' AVS enthusiasts, youda first .

Honestly, knowing your going to watching basketball tonight, much more interested in your impression of the various BFI modes when watching sports.

The C8 supported 50% BFI @ 60Hz (Medium on your C9).

How you compare what the C8 can deliver to the more advanced modes supported by your C9 is of high interest to me:

25% BFI @ 60Hz (Low)
75% BFI @ 60Hz (High)
50% BFI @ 120Hz (with SmoothMotion)

(I would guess NOT based on same or similar manufacture, but perhaps they do their "Sony thing" producing somehow better results??) This is a key point for me, along with 1080i/broadcast up conversion. I apologize in advance if I mis-recall, but I seem to remember that you had some issues with the Sony A9F (of course, no unit is perfect).
Thanks for your response.
It really depends on the year. 2018 Sony models, overall, have less banding issues from what I’ve seen. However, they are not immune to tinting (i.e. left 1/3 of screen redder than the rest). 2017 models, overall, are better with tinting but equal with banding... we should be defining this as low end luminance uniformity issues and not banding.

Okay, thanks. I guess that it is just down to "wait and see" what manufacturer puts out the best product for purchase in 2019.

Good luck - I've been trying since 2016 to no avail.

Even 'streaking' would be a better term than 'banding' (which has 0% to do with color banding), but it seems these terms take on a life of their own...

And just for the avoidance of doubt, what FW version do you have and does it support the Low Medium High BFI settings for OLED Motion Pro?

He confirmed in the owners thread. Same firmware as me and he does not have the BFI options. Looks like they removed it before consumer modes rolled out...hopefully just to fix some bugs or something.

I’ve talked to my local Best Buy (Savannah, GA) and tried the SKU I got from Reddit for the 55” C9 multiple times with no luck... 😔

Anybody have any other ideas on how to get one of these sets from Best Buy?

Also, can someone post the link to the official owners thread here on AVS?

Thanks in advance!

My store clearly had the 65” in the regular system at the TV area (not magnolia area). It was 6338500.

And BFI configurability seems to have been thrown out of the window.

Seriously. AVS is a place where you go to learn to be unhappy. - Bear5k

It’s in the review samples so I have to believe they were still working it more and will update via firmware. Hopefully one of the major tv guys will get in touch with LG.

The lack of LG's much ballyhooed BFI configurability would certainly make a 2019 OLED purchase decision more difficult. Let's hope this feature will be added soon and that it was not removed because of some unforeseen technical limitation.
