^of course not! That would be crazy. Would have to be an add on. Just a matter of money. I keep asking myself...do I really need a car? Hmm...

MSRP is not 'going up'; pre-order discount is ending: https://www.businessinsider.com/lg-8...s-42000-2019-6

"The model 88Z9, as it's called, will retail for ₩ 50 million KRW, which roughly translates to around $42,000 USD, according to The Verge. Pre-order pricing will start at ₩ 40 million KRW, which translates to around $34,000 USD."

In the US there will apparently be an even greater ore-order discount to $29,000 but I don't LG has yet announced what base MSRP pricing the 88Z9 will have ftom which that pre-order discount was applied.

This is Supply-and-demand 101: If inirial preorder demand outstrips initial production levels, the pre-order discount will end to bring demand down closer to oroduction levels. If pre-order demand is smaller than pre-order production, the pre-order discount pricing will continue (and may even drop).

LGD is producing only ~40,000 77" WOLED panels this year- how many 88" 8K WOLED panels do you think they'll be producing? My guess is the low single-digits of thousands (<5000 total).

Anyone know if BestBuy will sell this? Is VE only Preorder dealer?

I'm in but want 36mo financing & Geek Squad warranty for burn-in protection.

I know you love to be pedantic, but this is above and beyond, even for you You're making a distinction without a difference. It's one price now, and will be a higher price later. I fully understand market forces as I was an economics major undergrad and have an MBA in finance. But this basically never happens with displays. I get that this is a high cost item from a production standpoint, with uncertain demand projections. But I'll bet you one internet dollar that over the course of the year this display drops in price. Not saying they won't do what they're saying they will, i.e. raise the price after the pre-orders are cleared, but they'll come down when no one is paying the higher price.

Stuck up, half witted, scruffy looking, nerf herder.
Double True!

I have a feeling this display will launch for $20,000 when it comes, so by Black Friday you might get it for $10,000.

the OLED88Z10 will probably launch for $15,000 and clear out for $7500.

On that, we are agreed. Is see the 'pre-order' price as nothing more than LG probing to see if there is enough demand at that discounted pricing to absorb their production.

As I said, if the demand is higher than what they can satisfy on an ongoing basis (or probably few hundred units per month), then pricing will likely increase to reduce demand until supply exceeds that reduced demand.

If demand is below production levels even with the 'pre-order' discount, that discount will be extended, possibly all the way into Black Friday season when we'd then be likely to see even bigger discounts.

All of us, LG included, have no idea what the demand is for an 88" 8K WOLED TV costing $29,000, and the only way to learn more is to put it out there at that price (communicated to be temporary, both to increase demand and to avoid losing face if they end up needing to bring pricibg back closer to MSRP levels) and see what happens...

You also have to realize as said above, they are probably made in very small quantities at that price. Unless there is a huge demand I don't think you will see any drop in the cost until they become more main stream.

If thereis a huge demand this year, we'll probably get a significant price cut on next year's 88" 8K WOLED.

But as far as this year, a 'huge demand' will only result in higher prices (since there is only a fixed quantity).

The only way we're going to much lower prices this year is if noone bites at the pricing LG has offered...

Just speaking from experience where I live. All displays have five year warranty by law. BF's prices are usually around 40-60% of MSRP at launch

2016 : the 77" G6 OLED launched for €30,000 --> sold for €15,000 on BF
2018: 77" C8 launched for €9000 --> sold for €4500 on BF
the 77" C9 launches for €7500

55" B6 went from €3500 to €1800
55" B7 went from €3000 to €1600
55" B8 went from €2500 to €1300
55" B9 goes from €2200 to ????

But then again we're in august and this TV still hasn't launched, so I'm sure we'll have to wait for NEXT black friday to get a deal on it

It looks like the TV will launch for about $35,000 in the US, so probably around €35,000 - €40,000 here.

Black Friday 2020 I reckon it will cost around half that, so maybe $17k

88Z10 probably $25k with BF 2021 price of ≈ $12-13k
