yes probably need an hdmi 2.1 video card (and there are none right now) to do it lg seems to not support 4k120 @4:2:0 like samsung does. on the last firmware before .12 it was available but it did not work.

Upgrade Pluses so far: apps load much faster, I mean sooo much faster...
Alexa can now turn on my TV and switch outputs and select channels much quicker.
Dark scenes much more crisp and pronounced than B6, factory brightness settings also much more spot on.
Apple TV compatibility with iOS is great.
WiFi is better, absolutely no buffering anywhere ever.
Hulu app much better now.
GSync working great for a smooth PC gameplay even at 60Hz.
Remote feels more substantial, more chunky and dedicated Netflix/Prime buttons are a great addition.
My B6 mount works great and everything fits, TV on the wall 30 min after delivery.

Upgrade negatives: no 120Hz at 4K which with new AMPERE cards next year will be missed.
Sports content I still cannot agree on the settings. It feels a bit over-saturated with most settings, still tuning this one.
Moving menu to the left, I still prefer quick menu right.
It sometimes feels TV is losing my settings, like as if it tracks based on content or input and not based on mode selection.
Motion settings specifically.

Overall I am happy with my purchase, great panel indeed.

Go to General > About This TV > User Guide. Then click the "i" button on the top right. You will see a menu with the supported resolutions.

Is [email protected] listed with the latest firmware?

Thats not true. The TV has HDMI 2.1, which will support 4k at 120 Hz.... its just that currently nothing can do that.

That is so funny....the exact same thing happened to me. But I remembered you can check the history of notifications on the TV in the settings. No Apple TV app 😟

Everyone is assuming there will be an update to enable the HDMI 2.1 functions. Although all of the features are already there we are just missing the resolution support. Now I'm wondering if they are actually doing it. They might just be waiting for an actual HDMI 2.1 device to come out first.

The Denon is connected to the HDMI 2 ARC port on the C9. Usually I'll have sound when I start everything up but after a few seconds to minutes the sound just disappears.

This happens to all sources (Decoder, RPi3, PS4 Pro), when I press the info button on the Denon remote it shows the correct signal but no active speakers when there is no sound.

Sometimes with fiddling around in the HDMI settings of the Denon I can get the sound back for a short time, but it never lasts too long.

Yesterday I was switching sources and there was audio for a second on all sources, after a second no sound again.

Any idea what might be going on here?

Anyone with some advice please? Yesterday I spent another night trying to get audio from the Denon, in the end I gave up and used the internal speakers to watch a show

try disabling the tv auto device setup and manually add it as an arc receiver. check for firmware on the tv and receiver

Just ordered a 77C9 a few hours ago. Do the Canadian units come with the peel off plastic over the screen as shown in this European unboxing?

Does someone have a good explanation of Peak Brightness? This search term is like the hardest to get any relevant info back on online, as the words are mostly used to describe other things.

Are you adding anything artificial if setting this all the way to high? What is the goal for the setting as a user trying to get the best picture?

When I set it from Off to High in HDR mode, I notice that the brights get brighter, but the lows also get brighter. I'd like to use this setting since I find that HDR modes to be a bit dim, but I am not sure what the setting does or if I would be introducing anything artificial into the mix. I guess I need to turn on that setting as high as I can go without feeling like the brights are too bright?

My German C9 55inch (manufactured in April in Poland) came without the plastic, others who ordered from the same seller (a big retailer in Germany) said the same, it ony had two stickers on the front, one for the energy rating and another stating a 4K TV. Didn't have any fingerprints on it and was otherwise brand-new.

If possible, can I PM one of the resident experts here (preferably U.S. based)? I have some questions about the C9, but don't want to get banned by mods for not staying within acceptable topics on this forum.

Thanks so much....

It should be set to High by default in HDR.
OLED Light should also be set to max.

If this isn’t bright enough for you set Dynamic Tone Mapping to ON.

Yeah, my questions are related to price/installation/calibration. Specifically, best approach for buying and installing TV, calibration pricing in US, and required cabling (I have to run cable before contractor puts up wallboard, so absolutely need to be sure I have everything necessary in place). So a couple questions would get me banned.

I'm really liking the look of perfect blacks, thin bezel, HDMI 2.1...but I'm worried about brightness. The whole point of HDR is higher peak brightness to really make the colors and specular highlights pop. I have a fairly open floor plan den with lots of windows to the left side of where the TV would be. I'm concerned this TV would not have the brightness to power through daytime viewing. Anyone have a similar setup?

One thing I learn from owning oled and high nits lcd over the years: You should always buy an oled with the intention of using it mostly in a dark room. Even in a dark room, highlights in bright scenes will not pop much due to abl. Dark scenes with highlights will look wonderful due to no blooming, but watching it in bright room will defeat the impact.

So buy it from a place with a good return policy and return it if you're not satisfied.

The TV is fairly bright but not as bright as a QLED. HDR/DV looks astounding. Put in a 4K BD of Aquaman and let me know if you're worried about colors or how bright the TV gets.
