I know that Best Buy in the US had/has a deal where you receive $320 in gift cards for buying an LGC9. Nothing for the Sony though.

You don't have to go outside of this forum to get the 77A9G cheaper than the 77C9. Just look for the sponsors and you would know what I'm talking about

So this is what happens when you fiddle around with too many settings - note to self: keep PQ adjustments to Auto unless there's a good reason not. Everything reverted to "normal" color accuracy when I set the HDMI input to "Auto" and Color to "Auto" instead of "BT.2020" - do not set it to BT.2020! Everything took on a reddish/magenta tint, it was horrible.

When Costco was running the 15% off LG C9 77" a month ago, my BB sales rep immediately matched it so remember to comparison shop with BB if you prefer to buy locally.

2019 Sony A9G Master Series OLED Owner's Thread

Big shout out to @jrref for calibrating my 65” a9g. My set looks even more immaculate now. My out of the box numbers were actually pretty accurate, and rtings must’ve gotten a bad panel in their review. Peak brightness also much brighter than what rtings found, and similar to what you would find on the A9f (650 10% and 700 2%).

Finally pulled the trigger and picked up a 77A9G today and just got done mounting it!

What are your thoughts on setting/brightness etc etc? I remember seeing earlier in thread but a bit hard to dig thru on mobile

Flipped it on and turned on a movie on HBO just to see and the soap opera effect was a bit much

I changed some of the motion settings and it seemed better - watching a baseball game now and it looks pretty spot on.

Thanks!

Haha yes - coming from moving my beast of a 65VT30 down from the wall to this it was a bit nerve wracking still overall it felt sturdy even when we had to put it on/off the mount a couple times to get the adjustments right

Watched some Planet Earth 2 last night and man does this look amazing - colors are super vibrant and picture looks great.

As far as the surrounds, this is my first time with a 5.1 system, and the difference is there. You move the action from in front of you, to around you.
I saw the pictures of your media room and liked your A/V cabinet. If you don't mind I would like to know the manufacturer and model #. Also what did you use to raise your A9G.

This past Tuesday I had to move a Panasonic TH-65VX100, still in perfect condition with ZERO burn in, from the coffee shop to our video production booth and I needed 4 x big guys to do the job. This thing is 160 LBS. only but it was mounted very high on the coffee shop wall. I was able to mount it on the video production booth with 2 more guys help but just because it's now at desk high. Can't imagine the PITA that it would be handling a 85" Panasonic plasma. BTW, nothing better than Panasonic plasmas for video production. When these two plasmas need to be replaced I may need to get a pair of OLED.

And to think I was annoyed when I had to move a heavy-by-LCD-standards 93 lb 65X930E downstairs with my brother to clear out room for the A9G. I did have shoulder surgery a few months ago and am only comfortable using one arm to lift.

Anyone else can’t use the Netflix or Prime Video apps on their Sony A9G ?

All other apps work fine, but when I launch Netflix or Prime Video apps, the screen goes dark for about 10-20sec and then snaps back to previous screen. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling the updates.. clearing data and cache... nothing helps. Same thing every time.

I got mine about 1 week ago. Manufactured in May 2019.

Any input would be grateful. Thanks !

I have found that after you restart the TV, it will detect your voice. I set this feature up today on another unit at work and it did the trick. Hope this helps!

It's a simple trick but effective. Glad it worked for you. I spend more time than I care to admit with these sets but they are worth it.

And that red light can be disabled from the same sub menu.

I don't subscribe to Prime, but my Netflix app works just fine. Can you access your Netflix and Prime accounts using a different device (such as a BluRay player, Roku, Chromecast, etc)? The A9G has Chromecast built-in, so it should be easy to try to access Netflix through that using a smart phone or tablet, although I haven't tried it that way (unfortunately Chromecast doesn't support Prime). If you can't gain access these other ways, there must be a problem with your Netflix/Prime accounts. If you can access them with other devices, I would contact Sony support.

Edit: I assume you set up your internet access (ethernet or WiFi) with your new A9G?

You just leave it in CustomPro1 or 2 for all your viewing (the display will automatically switch to HDR or DV CustomPro1 or 2 if you are playing HDR or DV material, respectively). For Netflix, simply go into the Netflix app and change the picture mode to CustomPro1 or 2, and it will stay that way (instead of the Netflix calibrated mode).

Pardon, I can’t seem to determine who is VE? I’m considering this set, and I’d like to check out this seller. I will have three sources: PS4 Pro, Mac, TV 4K. Calibration is an intriguing value add, as I’ve never had a set done before.

Sorry for the ignorance...

Value Electronics

I had never had a display calibrated before either. On the one hand, the A9G is fairly accurate out-of-the-box. On the other hand, getting it broken in and calibrated at VE removes the panel lottery issue, and you do still get some accuracy improvements and the best picture possible post-calibration.

Hi,

My Sony sits on my Klipsch center channel. The stand is this one, very easy to put together and looks nice:

I’ve got a UBK90 that I currently have hooked up to my Denon S920; which has DV pass through according to Denon.
Was watching Aquaman / Ready Player One and when I clicked settings it showed HDR but not Dolby Vision. I know when I was watching some DV Netflix content it specifically said DV.
Any thoughts? Do I need to hook the UBK direct to the TV to have it detect/use DV?

Thanks for your input Bill. Strange yours is working and mine is not.

1 ) Yes I am 100% connected, wired to the internet with blazing speeds. Every other app that uses the internet on the TV works fine (YouTube, etc..)
2) Yes when using another device (iPhone/iPad/Desktop Computer) I can log into my netflix account fine. So its not Netflix.
3) And really, before I sign into Netflix, the app has to launch, lol so I can sign into Netflix on the TV, and I can't get it to that point. So for sure its not Netflix or my account. Lets say I didn't even have a account yet, I should be able to join Netflix on the TV app after it launches. But I can't get it to launch period.

When watching Netflix on my TV, I don't want to access the Netflix App through anything but the TV because I want Netflix to stream true 4k to the screen and my other devices won't do that.

So odd, I guess I got to contact Sony Support. (I also found a glitch I need to report anyway, in which I will warn others about in my next post.)

That said you helped me simply by letting me know your Netflix app works. I wanted to know if anyone was experiencing what I am is all. Its the same for the Amazon Prime app. (though I am not a member of that, the app should still launch).

And that red light can be disabled from the same sub menu.
I want to warn you guys now I found a glitch I will be reporting to Sony. Once I activated Voice control and began messing with it. I told it to turn the volume down(or up) to "xx". And it does. Which is cool ! BUT then it was crazy. It was stuck there at that volume no mater what I did and it sounded warblely and it was off sync ! So crazy.

I would turn the volume up or down on the remote now and the number would move, but absolutely no difference in volume. Same for my cable set top box. So I then turned all units off, waited a few seconds and turned them back on. SAME problem ! I then turned them all off and disconnected the outlets, waited a few seconds and plugged them back in and turned them on and THIS worked. Back to normal.

I then recreated the issue every time by doing as I said. So I warn you all now, do not tell it to change your volume. Theres a bug in that. At least on my set. (Sony A9G 55").

Honestly the voice thing is pretty stupid. It doesn't;t really do anything valuable to me as when asked anything it searches the web more than actually doing anything.
