LG begins global rollout of "real 8K" LCD & OLED TVs

...The company is positioning its new TVs as 'real 8K TVs' based on resolution measurements criteria set forth by the
International Committee for Display Metrology (ICDM). 'Real' is a reference to arch rival Samsung's 8K TV that use sub-pixel
rendering, or dithering, to improve viewing angles at the cost of effective resolution.

This is how technology goes, there was a time when lg was selling a 1080p 55 inch oled tv for $15,000 all you have to do is be patient and the price will drop.

I ealy adopted in 80's and 90's....I can wait. do have a ultrawide puter screen 4k thats more than my tv....I can wait on tv. playing stuff on 4k computer is cool tho.

Samsung replies:

To define 8K display performance we have to consider both optical elements such as brightness and color volume and systematical elements such as resolution processing technology, not just checking the value of contrast modulation,...

CTA Launches Industry-Led 8K Ultra HD Display Definition, Logo Program





The Consumer Technology Association (CTA), formerly known as CEA, has announced its display definition and logo for 8K Ultra HD. CTA mandates that 8K TVs "shall meet a minimum of 50% contrast modulation using a 1x1 grill pattern", as defined by the International Committee for Display Metrology (ICDM). The full specs are here.
