I think there is a limitation in the ribbon cable connecting the screen to the electronics that prevents some of the features like VRR from working on the W series. Also interesting that it looks like the WX won't come in 77" and that 77" stays W9.

From their slide

It seems that ZC>GX>CX

But what is really the difference...? Anyone know for PC Gaming?
Well ZX, WX and GX get ATSC 3.0 support that CX and BX don't get. If you don't use an antenna for TV signals this doesn't matter. Irrelevant for gaming.

WX lacks VRR and such that the others have. Probably a concern for gaming in the not so distant future.

ZX has 8K and 88" size as an option. I doubt you will be gaming in 8K for a while.

BX has a less powerful processor then the rest. Probably won't make a difference for gaming.

I will ignore the RX entirely which seems to lack all that the WX lacks and even lacks ATSC 3.0 and will cost an absolute fortune. Won't have any money left for gaming.

Scratch that then.

ZOMG LG... come up with a one connection system that allows gaming features on the Wallpaper series already... lol.

I'd say that the no 77" is another indication that they don't really care much about this series. Shame, as it's the best form factor for giant screen TVs. Easier to get into a home. Easier to wall mount than any other giant screen TV.

Given the price premium over the other models and the huge mandatory sound bar (that I get the impression most people that would be willing to pay for the W series don't want), I doubt they sell very many at all.

For sure. I'm definitely not a fan of the soundbar, and would prefer a Sammy one connect box type of deal, but I would have still been a buyer of a 77" WX in its current form factor, just for the convenience of move/installation. Not to mention the killer aesthetics... at least of the display itself lol.

I would likely never use the soundbar, unless the TV got retired to a bedroom or something. I would place it underneath the TV on my current stand under the mounted TV, so while not ideal, it isn't verging into nightmare territory either. At least not for me.

All moot points anyway I guess lol.

Aren't the PS5 and XBox Series X both supposed to offer 8K?

Although they likely meant gaming, I've never seen either Sony or MS explicitly say that the new consoles could do 8K gaming. They only said that they were capable of outputting at 8K, which could mean a few things besides gaming.

The original Xbox One that came out in 2013 claimed it could do 4K and we know how that ended up.

Well the Xbox One was not 4K. The Xbox One S could do video at 4K, but still gamed at 1080p. The Xbox One X had 4K gaming. So yeah I would expect gaming at 4K typically with maybe a few games able to go 8K and support for 8K video playback at least on initial versions. Maybe later updated versions would add more gaming at 8K (if there is even any initially).

In theory 8K capable consoles sound very cool and it is the new buzzword - but in practice, the 2020 generation consoles will target stable [email protected]+HDR - with a few games that will go beyond that, but [email protected] will NOT be attainable very soon...

Also, the 2020 consoles probably will try to do Ray Tracing at 1440p at decent enough fps.

I’d say your chances are close to 50/50...

If launch MSRP ends up being $5K, chances should be at least that.

But if launch MSRP end up being $6K, it will be more of a stretch...

8k resolution is such a ridiculous waste of resources for games, you are going from 8m pixels to 33m. You need so much more gpu power than what's available in anything today, GPU power that even if you did have it, would be much better used to achieve higher frame rates and/or higher quality graphics (such as raytracing). New consoles being 8k just means they can output the game in a 8k signal wrap due to having full bandwidth HDMI 2.1, a useful feature for those with 8k screens as it prevents double scaling if the game isn't native 4k.

So I keep going back in forth whether this the year or not to upgrade to a 77". Currently I have a E6 65" which will go in the bedroom and the pioneer elite 110fd will go int he playroom for my son. I was thinking 8k 77" ZX but the price is probably going to be more than I am willing to spend on something LG. TVs are not made like the Pioneer Elites are anymore build quality is just not there and I can't justify $10k+ for something that does not warrant it. So I am considering a 77" GX but not sure how I would mount my Furman Line conditioner I currently have behind my E6 unless I install a peerless AV IBA2 to place my furman Line conditioner in as well as my already mounted wall receptive that is behind the tv. or I could make my life simpler and just get a Cx77"

https://www.peerless-av.com/products/iba2

has anybody ever installed one of these peerless storage units?

I’m going from a 65” B6 to a 77” C9 or CX pending reviews and price (I’m leaning CX).

I would also like to move from a B7 65'' to a Cx 77'', but why the jump in prices are sooooo huge, here in Canada the 77'' is almost 3x the price of the 65'', this is ridiculous!!!

I can get a 65'' C9 for around 2500$ and the 77'' is 7000$. Getting it around 4500-5000$ would be ok but 7000$ really!

I agree!

I have a 2080ti, which is the most powerful video card and AAA games are hard to run at 4k/60 on ultra settings.

I also have a Xbox One X which is marketed as a 4k/60 console. Of course if you lower graphics settings you can increase the resolution for the same FPS. It does look more like a 1080p to me than 4k when comparing it to my PC.

The new consoles will compare to a 1070/1080 video card probably, with a better CPU it will run at 4k/60 with medium settings probably.

So i may pick up a 48inch oled.
Will it be nerfed thou cuz of the size? Will it support 2.1 with 120 native refresh? I accept it if it atleast has g sync like the samsung qled last year which didn't have hdmi 2.1.
What is the ms response times?
I hope for a Canada release. Otherwise id prob need to import it here some how.
Is there a set price yet?

Will it be nerfed thou cuz of the size? Will it support 2.1 with 120 native refresh? I accept it if it atleast has g sync like the samsung qled last year which didn't have hdmi 2.1.
What is the ms response times?
I hope for a Canada release. Otherwise id prob need to import it here some how.
Is there a set price yet?

LG knows the 48" model is extremely appealing to the gaming market (especially PC gamers). So appealing that they actually had a gaming PC hooked up to it for demonstration when it was announced. The chances of it not including the same HDMI 2.1 features as larger size CX’s is slim to none.

I was thinking 8k 77" ZX but the price is probably going to be more than I am willing to spend on something LG. TVs are not made like the Pioneer Elites are anymore build quality is just not there and I can't justify $10k+ for something that does not warrant it. So I am considering a 77" GX but not sure how I would mount my Furman Line conditioner I currently have behind my E6 unless I install a peerless AV IBA2 to place my furman Line conditioner in as well as my already mounted wall receptive that is behind the tv. or I could make my life simpler and just get a Cx77"

has anybody ever installed one of these peerless storage units?
Why on God's green earth do you want 8k in a 77". (No content, no dicernable difference at normal viewing distance. 8k is just a stupid initiative by the TV makers to justify an unnecessary upgrade )
