I was just remembering a photo I'd seen of something like 20 C9 boxes lined up in one, thought cost might be a factor in those circumstances.

So the houses prefer LG over Sony.

Just thought I'd chime in after reading the last few pages.

I got a C9 recently. Looking at the first three digits of my serial number (001), my C9 in a January 2020 manufactured model. Shipping label is February 2020. So they must still have been in production like D-Nice mentioned.

I've got no other LG to compare to, but do own a Sony A8F. The panel does indeed look very clean. Maybe those new retooling and QC benefits do manifest during certain production periods.

Does a tv manufacturing date guarantee that the procured panel would be from the same date or month? Couldn't the panel have been procured a couple of months back than the tv assembly date?

It’s not exactly a month. More time than that— I was just using the KISS method to explain. Not sure about other manufacturers, I have just been paying attention to what has happened with LG over the last half decade. Of course last year was an anomaly due to the screen tinting.

Definitely possible. However, not probable. Please keep in mind I only speak on NA products. I don’t dabble in other regions’ products as they can and will be different.

I'm curious about this. Does the GX have a straight plug end. On my C8, the plug itself terminates at 90 degrees. Are you saying a box like the following won't work?

One more question. Where does the power cord connect to or come out of the TV? None of the online pictures show that, of course.

I'm all over the place on my search for a new TV. C9, CX or GX. Driving me nuts.

@D-Nice I take it that the issue with BFI turning on Tru-Motion doesn't exist on game mode, since game mode automatically disables that type of functionality.

For my flight sim setup, my eyeball distance is 36" and I was planning on the LG 48" OLED as my next monitor. The 16:9 aspect ratio is actually a good thing for flight sims, as contrasted to racing sims, because of the greater "heads up" room. But, Samsung is doing close-out pricing of their 55" curved RU7300 4K set and I just can't go past it. At this size and my eyeball distance, curved is a real asset. I've decided that size outweighs the OLED picture quality and refresh rate is not a big issue with flight/racing sims, past a certain point. It looks like curved TV's are a goner, so I'll have to wait for someone to make an OLED curved gaming monitor to get the OLED picture quality--possibly a long wait.

JVC RS600 Chad-callibrated, 120" 1.3g in Batcave HT, Denon X8500 Polk LSiM703 fronts,
RTi-12 rears, LSiM 706 center, Monitor 40 Heights, Monitor 60 FW, Emotiva E1 sides,
LSiC CH, Infinity 6" VOG. 4X 12" subs w/mini DSP on sub 1 and nearfield 18" from sub 2.

There is no question they where making 65C9 in 2020, unless they had a huge warehouse full of them before hand, which I doubt they would have enough stock for dealers for 3 months.

One thing I noticed as far as gaming on console ps4 and the CX is during the hdr calibration menu on the ps4 switching between the dynamic tone mapping HGIG and the Off choices the only one of those which allows u to properly move the x square circle triangle menu to "barely visible" is the Off setting. DTM and HGIG both either will be fully seen or wit 1 extra click it goes to completely invisible. just a observation i found for gamers on consoles.

I get the same anomalies in Game mode with BFI as I do in the other modes. It trips up the same way as TruMotion Deblur and Dejudder being set to 0.

For what it matters, I have a 65C9 assembled in juanary 2020 and arrived in february: really uniform panel and definitevely various steps ahead on my previous Sony 65A1.

So far, so good.

I just picked up a CX with an ugly panel, so it’s still not guaranteed. Half the screen is darker than the other.

How long have you run it for? Perhaps run it for 40 or so hours and let it do a refresh cycle on it's own a few times.

Not sure exactly how many hours, maybe 20 or so, but I did manually do a complete one hour pixel refresh on it when I turned it off last night to see if that would help.

Just pre-ordered a 77CX! A few questions

Just put in an order in through VE for a 77" CX. It's currently $50 less expensive than the C9 at a big box plus there's no tax! So markedly cheaper. Delivery is sometime in early May! I'm nervous about the shipping and condition but excited for @jrref to calibrate it!

Anyone have suggestions on a warranty? Squaretrade, Mack? I was thinking about the warranty directly through LG to ensure them giving no gripe if there's issue. Otherwise, if LG has a decent one, my credit card will pop an extra year on it.

Next biggest thing is, will I be able to fit the box down my stairs to get to the basement! Are there any restrictions on ways if can be rotated in the box for under a minute, in the event I need to maneuver it?

Thanks. That is a pretty big mistake on their part, but they have been responsive in terms of fixing these things. Only time I have seen this on my C8 is in PC mode with a non game mode input and only on the Xbox, not on the PS4. You immediately see the half a second stutter as it turns on and the lag increases, but on game mode it works as it should.

As for panel uniformity for that 50/50 screen from @GeneWildersHair , there are never any guarantees that a consumer electronic product will 100% work, there will always be defective products such as that one. What people are hoping for is that there is a notable increase in the uniformity of panels, and less panels with noticeable bands/blotches/tinting/etc.

thoughts on BFI?

@fafrd (or anyone else) Have you seen the CX? Any thoughts on the improvement with BFI? Is there a way I can leverage that with my HTPC for movies? How about for games? What does my GPU need to be set at? Do I run the game at 120fps and the black frames use up the some of the frames? What about Movies?

Those are questions no-one could have asked possibly before earlier in this thread; impossible to answer by reading back a bit or even - searching?

I've read every post on this thread and the thread that pre-dates it: this CES LG OLED thread. There are a number of my questions that I haven't seen answered.
Is there a way I can leverage that with my HTPC for movies?

I'm not sure if there's some software I can use like that Blurbusters has. Or is there something else I could be missing
How about for games? What does my GPU need to be set at?
Not sure if I have to set my resolution for 4K 120hz and then what my max FPS would be
Do I run the game at 120fps and the black frames use up the some of the frames? What about Movies?

Different flavors of the first one

GX Audio?

Anyone got a GX yet? Curious about the built-in audio volume/clarity. I’ve never tried to use the built-in audio on a modern set.

I’m picking up a GX today and I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to do for audio. Since I’m spending extra for the crazy thin set, having a sound bar below it is counterproductive.

Upstairs I’ve got a nice Denon/Klipsch 7.1 gaming setup, but I’m going for tasteful and subtle in the downstairs installation.

I’m thinking maybe a small amp tucked under one of the side tables with some bookshelf speakers if we need more audio oomph. But in the meantime, how’s the built-in audio?
