Kuro Died What OLED to Buy?

Looking for a bit of guidance here as my trusty pro 111 has been dying a slow death for a year and it is now time to replace it.

I simply want to buy the best 65" OLED TV so looking for a bit of advice on what to purchase.

Main TV for our house and we use it for daily TV watching, Netflix/Disney +, Nintendo Switch and Blu Ray ( I know I need to upgrade the player now)

I value PQ and Motion processing so do I but the new LG CX, the Older C9, Sony A8G or Sony A9G.

Any and all help is much appreciated.

Go to the CX Owners thread, early user reviews are in and it appears that the CX is now as good as the A9G in terms of motion. CX PQ similarly is now as good as A9G (some have argued C9 was already there last year!)

CX would be my recommendation.

Yeah, I scrubbed that thread over the past few days and seems like its the latest and greatest and was leaning that way.

Or wait for the A9H if your Kuro is still watchable. If you need it right away, then the C9 if you are very budget strapped, or the CX if not. The A9G is way overpriced considering the LG options at this time.

Unfortunately I think I have waited as long as I can and need to pull the trigger ASAP. I can get the C9 for $2200 or the CX for $2800 so to me it seems silly to not drop the extra $600 for the latest and greatest unless the processor in the CX isn't that much better than in the C9

Agree - I would go with the CX over the C9 myself. I only meant if you were very budget conscious, the C9 is an excellent display.

If you need one now go with the CX. Very solid set and definitely is slightly better than the C9.

Panasonic Gz2000 or the upcomming Hz2000 only tvs a kuro owner would be happy with.

I’m not sure that’s true. I loved my Kuro panels and my Sony A1E does not make me miss it other than for the poor uniformity I have on my Sony. Once uniformity is not an issue I’m buying again, and I’m sure I’ll be happier than I was in the Kuro days. Now that the LG motion is right up there I’m definitely in for another try at an LG. And I’d definitely go with the newest model year if possible.

The television screen is the retina of the mind's eye.

Spend the 2800 bucks and get the CX.

The position on 2020 sony oled tv's is unclear. On their site, they have the A8H model listed but no tentative date or month when it would launch, and the 48 A9S they unveiled at CES isn't even listed on their site right now. And then there's the rumored A9H that's supposed to launch around september, just that we can't be sure of that and it could possibly see a delay. If the japanese olympics got delayed, then what's a sony tv?

He was talking of panasonic GZ2000 or the upcoming HZ2000. If that's available in the country you are located, then among the oled options they might be the best bet to replace a kuro, at least when it comes to having a better chance at the panel lottery (panasonic performs specific mura correction on these panels after procuring the raw panels from lg display).

You have my sympathy. My 2009 KRP-500M, calibrated by D-Nice who posts here is still going strong but I too will be in the market for an OLED and the LG CX is at the top of my wish list.

Sony A1 check ur pixels on slides after 2000h my started to fail then.
Top pixel line n far right line started to Flash when the A1 was warmed up.

One of the reasons I wish they were available around here. I’m hoping the new LGs are looking clean or I’ll be waiting another year.

Fortunately I haven’t noticed anything like that getting close to 5k hours.

Well I don't own one, but i followed the GZ2000 closely last year (owners threads, grayscale slides...)...if your issue is tinting or vignetting, i dont really think they did any better, but if your issue is vertical banding in the 1%-5% stimulus, in this area i think the GZ2000 did better than other tv's. Not perfect but the low grayscale slides on the GZ2000 on average were noticeably cleaner than the A9G or C9 last year.
