What's wrong with LG picture quality, see for yourself.

Do this test and compare this youtube clip below on your Oled Lg youtube app against any other device youtube app such as iPhone, appletv, samsung tv smart app, firestick, shield, roku and so on.
Pause this youtube link clip at 45 second mark and look at spider logo. It's better if you can plug the device to your oled tv for a fair comparison. See anything different on your test.

Also see attach picture for some comparision I took. Same source/app and same resolution along with same picture setting on same OLED TV when using device such as fire stick, shield hook up to OLED. I even use a older samsung Tv smart app to compare, along with fire stick, chromecast, shield, roku and they all look the same. Only the LG app look different. Does LG app picture quality just suck.
You can do this test with Lg plex app and other device plex app if you have the movie. Same result.

I don't think that even matter if both are set to the same mode, same setting, everything from brightness to noise reduction. I am aware about difference source having different setting. It's set correctly. They both should look identical regardless. Something else is at play. My guess. Lg video codec software processing, no not an upscaling issue as 4k have same issue. First picture of the rose is Youtube VR9 codec at 1440p, 4k is only 1-2% better. But similar.

Netflix app is same quality on both my LG and firestick/shield. Youtube, plex is difference on LG and firestick/shield. Only test these as they are the main one I used. The difference between these app are the codec they use. Netflix used H265. Youtube use VR9, plex video was using H264. Test H265 plex video on both LG and firestick/shield. Looks the same. LG F*** up somewhere.

Exactly. PQ not upscaling. Since 4k youtube shown the same issue. It's so easy no one done it and report back. Is there still a pandemic going on or everyone is back at work as usual.

ah ok, in that case I think the thread title is a little misleading. I mostly stick to external sources so this doesn't worry me

No issue using the youtube app on my E6. Did you let it play for a minute or two so the resolution increases from 480 to 1080? I don't know why the image I posted is upside down but it is at at 45 second mark.

Maybe chroma upsampling error. Do you see these jaggies on monochrome or pure grayscale videos?

OP you are demonstrating a problem with the video decoders used by LG's apps. I'd suggest a more accurate thread title.

Did you use another device to see if both look the same. If so the E6 might not be affected. Sometime it may not be apparent to you if you don't compare. But from what I see it look good enough.

I don't know what it is. I'm just guessing, but it is still something to do it the picture quality, maybe it's the hardware, decoder, maybe processor, maybe software, could still be upscaling. What do you think is going on causing the difference? If I knew exactly why I wouldn't even post this test to see if someone may know something.
