Hey, you have your center channel upside down!

Luisev, yes there will be bamboo boxes for the 893. I actually have a set of three for photos.

Is there an established price point for the bamboo cabinets?

Lol I see that now. I wasn't thinking about it when I took the pic that it was upside down.

Does the center channel cab have a curved top? What's the price on these cabs. They look great.

Thanks tux, they are nice cabs, solid and finish are sweet. I probably won't get around to putting them together for another two weeks at least with Christmas around the corner. I don't think I will do a build thread as there are few allready out there. When I get them finished I will post some pics and give my two cents on how they sound.

No curved top on center channel. Erich is still getting final price and the shipping and packing figured out, should be soon now.

those bamboo baffles look fantastic !! I tip my hat to you, sir !!

you should go ahead and put stick on googly eyes on the mids, and a smiley across the waveguide... accoustically transparent, of course.

there was a pic , once, of the 1099 "smiley upside down center"... maybe it was the 88 special... but it was really cute !

mods, can we have a 'dislike' button ?

How far off the back wall can these be? Is it important to have them right up against it? Trying to decide how deep my false wall will be

The can be pulled away as far as you want. Perhaps I'm not understanding? You're looking to build a false wall baffle? That's also ok. I recommend they be flush mounted as best possible. Avoid having them protrude several inches.

ok thanks

not a baffle wall. I just want to get them as close to the screen as i can but was worried moving them too far from the back wall would do something negative as it seems these were designed with having them against the wall in mind

Oh I see. Yes, the original intent was next to (flush with) a screen. But that's been thrown out the window with so many people using them however they like haha. Better to bring them close to the screen.

Have people been putting the gasket tape down where the drivers go in?

It's easier to attach it to the back of the mids and waveguide.

Maybe it's just the picture, but the crossovers look close to the baffle... did you dry fit the mid-ranges?

@Black adder Thanks! That makes sense. Woofers as well? I think they already have some padding on them, but is it better to add more?

The cross over is not as close to the back of the baffle as the pic makes it look. No issues during the dry fit, but there is def not a lot of space between the back end of the mids and crossover. Is there a minimum amount of space recommend between the two? I used Velcro to mount the crossover, so there is some wiggle room.

There's 3 pieces of gasket tape per kit. The longer one goes on the waveguide, the shorter two go on the midranges.

Make sure you seal up the holes you drilled to run the wires between the chambers.

If the xo is too near a driver, the magnet could cause havoc on the xo inductors, altering the frequency or slopes.

Hmmm my setup has me concerned then. Here is a pic of how close the back of the mid is to the inductor:

It's about 1". Too close?

Doing a little test, the magnet on the back of the mid will move around a screw sitting on a table starting at about 1.5". So the inductors are definitely within the effective magnetic field. Probably not good for sound

I wouldn't get overly worried about it. But if you did, it looks like you could just leave the board in place and simply stand the inductor up on it's end and glue a small piece of wood behind it to hold it in place.
