The midrange chamber appeared deeper than the original dimensions because it didn't look like there was as much room for air flow behind it. I guess that will be okay though.

Increasing the internal volume for the 18's wouldn't be a problem, but I'm not sure I'd change that midrange chamber too much. Those braces are really.....really important in the midrange chamber. I know the drawings I sent looked like overkill, but it does need that for a beefy 12" woofer and those frequencies.

Can't wait to see how these turn out!

Hey dude, I just had another look at the drawing you sent...I think I misunderstood...you're saying I should add braces to the inside of the mid chamber? I can do that no problem.

Also, I'll put in U-shaped braces behind the 18's like you did.

Yes, the picture of the small braces I sent you go inside the midrange chamber.

Appreciate the pics, looking good so far! At some point, someone is going to have to stand next to one of these monsters for scale.

That's BWaslo standing next to the beast. I forgot I had posted that with the Oompa Loompa head! Of course the big head makes the speaker look smaller than it really is, but still gives you some idea of it's size.

Got a little bit more done this weekend. Assembly is taking longer than I first thought. I was hoping to use glue + nail gun for all of it, but we ended up needing clamps to square everything up. I am pleased though, all baffles and braces are lining up pretty well.

Mid range chamber can now survive a nuclear blast.

Added large triangle braces behind both 18's. I went ahead and brought them all the way to the front baffle to make sure the front baffle stays lined up straight, top to bottom. Unless there's a reason to, I'm not going to cut windows out of them and leave them solid.

Didn't get a picture, but the 4" deep port peices really helped support the bottom edges of the front baffle too.

I should have all 3 built this weekend.

No reason to cut bracing windows unless something is highly volume critical or need to save weight (which might be beneficial if an Oompa Loompa is hoisting one of these?).

Got them all glued up and moved back to my place this weekend. So looking at the oompa loompa picture above, I thought BWalso was just kinda short...uhh no. I'm a solid 5'9", and my eyes line up with the top ports lol. Hard to conceive how big these are until you're standing next to them. Also very heavy...even without drivers. Not too hard to move with a dolly though.

Sorry the boxes are so ugly...I need to clean them up with the router + flush bit. The far left one appears taller because it's sides were cut way too long.

I originally thought I would leave these enclosures "bare" as they are going into a baffle wall, but I made some scratches and dinged some edges just moving them around the house. So I think I'm going to do a 1/4" roundover on all edges and go ahead and prime + paint them. Better to seal up and protect the mdf I think. Also, still need to seal up the mid chamber with caulk.

Incredible!

And incredibly dangerous for me to be looking at.

I just finished my 1099's and love them.

And yet when I see the 1899's..... : )

My wife would kill me and bury me in the woofer chamber.

Small update, got the boxes trimmed and sanded. Erich got me the CD's, waveguides, and remaining crossover parts as well. Gonna try to get the crossovers built this week, then boxes painted this weekend.
