1099 and 893 Trim Rings

Checking if people are interested in these. The materials and time it takes me to make these put them in the $10 range, plus shipping. That's each, so $20 per speaker. They should fit the Fusion 8 as well, but not 100% sure yet. I also need to confirm the 1099 baffle. I don't have one of Erich's baffles here.

They're made from sintra plastic. They fit like a glove but if you're a slob with duratex they might not. I would glue them in with a long open time glue or silicon or something, but just with friction they are perfect and don't really need glue. Depends if you want them removable or not.

There's a grove on the backside to accommodate the woofer basket and pockets for the screws. You are required to remove the gasket and this can be risky and voids warranty.

I'd like to gauge interest before I set up the machine to cut 6 and have way more interest, or cut 50 and nobody want them.

These are basically identical to what's used here: http://impulseaudio.ca/cinema-speake...inema-max.html

Thanks.

Looks good!

What are the chances of damage to the driver when removing the gasket? Any tricks to minimize the risk of damage? Did any of the surround get separated from the basket at all when removing the gasket?

I've popped the gasket off 8 of the eminence 10" woofers and one of the 893 woofers. The 10" woofers with the cloth according surround were no issue at all. The 893 woofer with the butyl surround was perfect except it slightly pulled up on the edge about 1" long but i basically ripped it off in a hurry without any care for the driver. Didn't affect the driver anyways and gets covered by the trim ring. The glue probably doesn't bite into the rubber as good as the cloth.

Would those fit the Eminence 10's in the Fusion 10, Cinema 10 Max etc. also?

I would be interested in 3 sets as well. The only thing is I have 4 coats of clear, 3 coats of base color and about 3 of primer. I'm thinking they would not fit? I really don't like the way that foam gasket looks. So this would be awesome.

A word of caution to anyone removing the gasket, be very very careful. A piece of the foam had more glue then other parts, and when I pulled to remove it tore the surround about half inch. I did this when I first got my 893's after this happened I dint try to take the rest of the gaskets off. I had to get a new woofer from Erich to replace the damaged one.

I would be willing to try again though. I think the look of the trim rings will look great.

Tux, amazing job with those trim rings. I believe you'll have many takers.

I think they'll fit all the 8 and 10 inch Emmy woofers as the baskets are all the same afaik. But I'd like to confirm this with Erich. I have a pair going out tomorrow to Ja. Hes gonna try them and hopefully report back.

Someone else also enquired about these quite a while ago who was gonna test fit them on their speakers. Cant remember who and their PM was like 100 pm ago. If who ever that was sees this please pm me. I took longer than planned to get to this. Sorry.

I have a feeling the cloth surrounds are much more forgiving to ripping those gaskets off.

I agree they're awfully ugly.

Looking forward to getting them and trying them out. Thanks Tux! I will definitely post pictures and feedback here.

Those look awesome tux! I've got a couple questions:
  1. Does the ring extend much beyond the basket? I'm curious if the 8" will fit on the 88 Special.
  2. Also, what is the possibility of other models? I'm thinking specifically of the Fusion 15.

Im pretty sure these will fit all the emmy 8" woofer if used in erich's baffles. For the 12 and 15 I'd have to have a baffle to test fit.
