Thanks! I see two changes from the 1/9/2018 spec sheet.

1. The model number dropped the "CM-", which may be a typo as it's still CM-7600 on the Stream+ pre-order web page, and it makes sense to be CM-7600.

2. The speed class of the Micro SD card (now only U3). The following quote describes the UHS speed classes:

Quote:
UHS Speed Class
This stands for Ultra High Speed and refers to minimum sustained writing performance for recording video. UHS came about due to 4K-capable video devices needing faster write speeds.

The SD Association has two UHS Speed Classes, UHS Speed Class 1 and UHS Speed Class 3. UHS Speed Class 1 supports a minimum 10MB/s write speed, whereas UHS Speed Class 3 supports at least 30MB/s write speed. The UHS Speed Class is denoted by either a 1 or 3 inside of a bucket U symbol. As a rule of thumb, 4K-capable camcorders will usually require at least a U3 rated SD card.

At least they are more positive about adding USB storage now.

"MicroSD slot for DVR storage, up to 512GB (U3
MicroSD card required for DVR capability), with
USB storage support coming soon"

Yeah, I had to go and check the sd card I purchased, as I was contemplating several ones. It's within specs so no need to worry. I paid $26 for a Samsung EVO, like several SSD drives I already own. It has the minimum Data required 64 GB, and UHS Speed Class U3 compliant as well. Some of the ones I nearly purchased were not UHS Speed Compliant so I got the right one.

Now, if I only had my Stream+,.......

Wink

Channel Master seems ready for business with "DVR and Set Top Box Support" info for us Stream+ pre-order customers.

I notice newest literature confirms maximum storage as 512GB, as the Support literature shows max as 256GB.

Hopefully, ChannelMaster is working with Netflix to get Stream+ approved for not only standard service , but also Ultra 4k. The Italian version of the Stream+, Skipper, has been approved by Netflix, and the Netflix app was installed with last update.

Make sure you buy from a reputable seller. There are a lot of fake cards out there. They are quite pricey so I'm holding off on buying one to see if they get the Stream+ working with a USB hard drive. And the longer I wait the cheaper both USB hard drives and U3 microSD cards will be. Who knows, by the time CM ships the Stream+ the cards may be dirt cheap.

Still a deal-killer to me because of the Lilliputian size compared to the USB hard drives, which is why I won't be buying the Stream+ any time soon, even if all my other concerns about the device, which I posted previously, are resolved.

Ah, the end of February.

Just talked with Joe at CM. I've talked with him before about problems with the previous CM DVRs, and he has always been very friendly and helpful in trying to resolve any issues or concerns. Too bad the CM leadership and customer relations folks aren't as open and helpful.

Joe said they are hoping to have the needed Google approval by late next week (but no guarantee, it's in Google's hands, not CM's). Much of the previous delays were to fix known bugs to be able to send out a working product rather than a buggy one. The units will be shipped with a quick-start manual, and there will be a video hitting the CM site soon showing how to use the Stream+. I asked about a user manual, noting how incomplete the information was that was available for the DVR+. The answer was that there will be no instruction manual beyond the video and quick-start guide. I guess it will again be up to us to discover the faults, features, and shortcuts to learn how to take full advantage of these units. Overall orders exceed 20,000 units. The earliest ordered will ship soon after the Google release comes through, the rest ordered are still on target for an April ship date.

I ordered and was charged immediately for mine December 18th with order # 163221. That was to be shipped immediately with the PayPal Express shipping upgrade, before they changed the page to read pre-orders shipping in January, then changed again to a mid-February shipping date. I'm curious, does anyone have an earlier order for one of these? Hopefully they'll be sent out in the order the orders came in.

So now we have an opportunity to go all CSI on this. Given the approximate dimensions of the actual Stream+ unit, and the likelihood that it will ship in a box, and most likely one of the boxes we see on the cases, we can calculate the possible number of units in each case. By my count there are 16 cases. Based on the size of those smaller boxes I am estimating that each case holds 8 Stream+ units. 16 cases X 8 units = 128 Stream+ units in the United States. If this shipment contains the entire first run of pre-orders, CM has sold at most, 128 Stream+ units before they changed the ship date to April. At $99 each, this comes to $12,682 max for the initial run of pre-orders. If we eliminate demos, promotional units and floor models we can probably say this is closer to $12,000. If an equal number of people bought a Stream+ after the sale deadline, that's $19,072 in additional sales, for a total of $31,072 so far. So would that be good for initial sales numbers?

And that's before we go all CSI on the clues to be found in the order paperwork!

My order number is 163259, placed 12/19/2017 at 08:39AM. They sold 38 "of something" between your order #163221 and my order the next day. No telling if it was 38 orders of the Stream+ or just one.

I don't recall a mid-February ship date; I recall a "end of February" but maybe I translated that in my head. I didn't really expect it until March 15th (knowing how new products are usually delayed).

My order was placed 12/20/17 at 07:35 AM and the order number is 163746, a big jump from fshagen's order the previous day. I am curious as to when they will truly ship.

That is what it cost me on 6/14/15 and then I ordered a 1 tb drive for storage... don't have a receipt for that but the total was well over $300 for the whole setup. I am watching it now as I type, still steaming SLING, watching the History channel while recording OTA. I am glad SLING has not dropped their service to the DVR+ pending the Steam+ release.

CM-7004 (digital to analog converter)

I think the CM-7004 is a new Channel Master product ($79 Introductory Price, regular $89). It converts digital (ASTM 1.0) OTA TV broadcasts into NTSC signals for analog TVs. It's NOT a replacement for the discontinued DVR+, or a competitor of the STREAM+. It's chiefly for folks who refuse to junk their old analog TVs, but want to view current OTA broadcasts on them. What's nice is it has a program guide (PSIP only). Interestingly, it appears it uses the same remote control as the DVR+ "Enhanced" remote control.

There's a short YouTube video on the CM web page.

...

If a discussion is to ensue, someone should start a new thread for the CM-7004.

I would say realistic expectation going to end of April ... if Google will make it that time ...or more realistic - September. Then we could see photos of it at FCC site and read the manual there.

We should make a pool! I'm thinking ship date is going to be around March 15th, based on how quickly the Android folks approve apps (3 days) and extending that a bit for boxes with Android TV on them.

Ordered 12/20/2017, Order #163852 ...quiet a few orders from just the 19th passed through.

As for that photo of the boxes. I'm pretty sure the Stream+ came over in shipping containers. I doubt seriously that they came as those loose boxes that have Channel Master printed on them. I would wager that those boxes were inside of larger boxes, possibly pallet-sized boxes, and that there were probably lots of the larger-sized(pallet?) boxes. It looks to me like this photo was simply a display that was set up with the smaller boxes for the "photo op".

I saw the new product in an email they sent out yesterday. At first, I thought it was just another mstar box (and was shocked that they thought they could get $80 for one) - but looked at the video and saw it did have a different interface for guide and recording. Capability-wise - it is really no different functionally than an mstar box. It just has a prettier interface. I still think it is outrageously over-priced for what it is. Drop it down to around $50 and you have an mstar box with a nicer interface. It's interesting that every support article for 'ConverterBox' as CM refers to it has a disclaimer on the bottom of nearly every article stating how this is not meant to be primarily a recording device. :-)

Oops! Not thinking, I pasted an image of the CM-7004 from the Clipboard into my post. That image vanished when I reviewed the post, and I realized what I did, but thought it was simply rejected as it did not show up in the post editor.

But when the post is quoted, it reveals itself as lots of gibberish. I've edited the post to eliminate it.

Remember, the DVR+ never had a full manual either.

Edit. I guess they did. Quick-start guide was 40 pages, manual 64 pages.
