Tivo / Tv Question

This may sound odd. We have RCN cable with a TIVO Premier box. The cable guy hooked everything up...it works fine. I just hooked up a viewsonic projector in the same room. When I watch the projector, anytime I hit various buttons (in particular up arrow or Select) my LG plasma set turns on. I would have thought ONLY pressing the tv power button on the TV remote would have turned the tv on. I had to unplug the tv just to watch the projector. Note the viewsonic remote also turns on the the tv...when the keystone button is pressed...but we probably wont press that often.

My hope was to get a second TiVo remote and have one for the tv and one for the viewsonic...assuming a TiVo remote can power on/off a viewsonic projector but there is no point of it keeps turning on the tv.

thoughts...can the TiVo remote be set to only power on the tv when the green tv power button is pressed?

I cleared the TiVo remote and tried every code. Each one that works with my LG plasma set does the same thing. Press the green TV/PWR button, the tv turns on or off. However, pressing the Select twice button or up arrow twice turns on the tv as well.

This is a problem if I am using the projector instead of the tv.

Any ideas? Why does the TiVo turn on the tv when the select orup arrow are hit?

You may have better luck posting to the appropriate forum for your particular model in the LCD Flat Panel display section. Since this isn't really a TiVo issue (since your LG responds to anything) - and is more of a TV issue - the appropriate LG forum may be a better place to post the question.

This sounds more like a remote code issue between the Viewsonic and LG devices. It's definitely not a Tivo issue.

It's very possible that the Viewsonic's SELECT code is the same or very close to the LG TV's POWER command and the TV is responding to it.

I have had similar problems with a relative's Polaroid TV some years back, and at work the remote for a presentation projector in a conference room kept turning the LG LCD TV off. This is not uncommon.

There's probably not a lot you can do about conflicting signals in the same room, but i would post your issue in the Remote Controls forum, maybe someone there has a solution or workaround.
