Are you bragging or complaining?

1. You could sign up for Facebook. It's "free".

2. You could read this thread, just a few posts up, where the quote is given: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/42-hdt...l#post56299202

Are you sure you don't want to sign up for FB to see the quote? You know, Kelson could have misquoted it, and now you'll never really know. (Except he did quote the response accurately).

If I didn't manage "product engagement" on FB for the company I work for I wouldn't be there either. When I retire I'll retire from FB as well. What's interesting is that most of our young people coming out of the local university don't have accounts; if they work in the customer facing positions they have to sign up for one and they use it only for work.

ChannelMaster doesn't quite have their messaging uniform. They announce some things on their website, some things on FB. The company I work for hits FB, Twitter, Instagram, Twitter and our websites for all announcements.

Yes, I understand there are differences. That's been clear for some time.

What you haven't yet shown is that the differences are due to different servers being used, as opposed to, say, differences in the two devices' firmware. That should be rather easy to do....

I don't think so. From our vantage point I believe all data is coming from a single source. The guide data is either supplied by Google or by the vendor upstream, but is collected and comes to us from Live Channels. You can't track it back before it is injected into the LC app.

@P Smith , as @Kelson pointed out, you don't need a fb account or sign-in to read a Facebook post.

This is true unless the poster has restricted access to it, this can be easily done and poster has audience levels he/she can restrict access to.

When I searched for an acquaintance lost from decades past, Facebook had him, but I then had to join to make contact (and he had to allow and accept). Number one rule is to NEVER fall for a ("instant one-click register on an fb icon") always use a special Email for those. And then there are many other user-settings along with 'Ad-Block' and FBP (free) that can really control it. Really watch your "permissions" if you install their app on your phone.

Stream+ is best if there's a You Tube playing on your phone or Tablet, click box on bar for it to turn-on S+ and TV (and select Source) and it will continue your video on the big screen. TV's FB app does it as well and phone gives you a choice of sources to use (S+ does 4K and HDR through VP-9 codec).

Went to program a recording (CBS) and schedule was blank beyond a few hours.

It leaves my TV's audio in PCM when I return to DVR+ (where Dolby had been active).

Today I lost all my channels. Only thing showing was 1-1, Google. Tried everything. All channels were selected, just none showing in the Guide. So I had to do a "Factory Reset". That fixed the channel problem, they all reappeared. But now it wants me to format my external drive again. That means all recorded shows on it will be gone. Right? So how do you get around this and make the box recognize the already formatted external drive?

Didn't answer the question! Even with a new box, it will still want me to format the already formatted external drive. So I ask again, how do you keep any recorded content when you have to reformat? Or is there a way around the reformatting to keep content?

If I would have both S+ and the storage .... I would find the answer.

I don't believe anyone has discovered a way to do what you ask, and it's a deficiency in the product that needs to be corrected. Since Google Live Channels is the controller for recordings I suspect that's the entity you should complain to.

Do you have a USB hard drive that is using power from the USB port (no separate power supply)? Some USB drives may pull too much power according to some here. I've had my little USB drive plugged in and the unit doesn't get hot, but others have had the drive be the issue.

Cool Glad I spent the $99 bucks. | Allow access?

Using the DVR and it seems to want you to watch
or at least ff 5X all the way through a recording
before the "Delete" option is offered.

Am I missing something?

Also, after selecting "Delete", there's this option popping up:
Quote:
Allow Live Channels to access photos, media, and files on
your device?
With options to Allow, Deny and Deny and don't ask again

I've selected "Deny". What's that about? (I'm leery of "Permissions" ?)

My TV is not Networked (WiFi or Ethernet),
a EHD is on USB and devices (see sig) are into all (4) HDMI ports.

I like the S+ Bluetooth Remote and surprised that my TV's Remote (also Bluetooth)
does the Pause and ff/rw functions. I had done nothing to enable that.

Stream+ will turn TV OFF if it's on and change audio and picture modes for the worst.

My guess is that you have to allow LC to access files in order for it to delete the recording files it just created

The same seems to happen to me.
If it is a heat problem then a USB fan or really any fan may help.
My tablo was overheating and once I added the USB fan the problem went away.

If it takes too much power from the Stream + then maybe your TV has a USB outlet.

What you just described is called Casting. It's something google came up with when they put out the first chromecast. They have allowed the hardware/software onto 3rd party devices and it's pretty cool technology. I believe it to supersede bluetooth. Casting works particularly well for audio only content as well. When you tap the cast icon on your phone, you are basically telling your cast enabled device (in this case your S+) to fetch that stream from youtube's servers and play it back, from the same point you were already watching on the small screen. You can also do this by voice with a google home device. Start and control the content on your tv all by voice, pretty wonderful.

Of course the rub is netflix won't cast correctly on Android TV devices. The netflix app itself causes issues with netflix via casting. Of course there is no conflict on first party chromecast devices by google. So I keep a chromecast and S+ hooked to my tv. That way I can just tell Google to "play trolls from netflix" to have something on for the kid.

HDMI CEC (Control) is doing this via your TV remote. It's also how the Stream+ turns off your TV, etc. If you don't want this behavior, turn it off in the Stream+ settings and in your TV settings. I leave it all off on mine because I prefer my universal remote to control all of that.

I disagree about casting being the best use of Stream+. While I'm glad S+ has the capability, I'd rather avoid it if at all possible. I prefer not to control playback from my phone. It's much easier for me to control playback with a remote.

My favorite thing about S+ is having apps (Netflix, Amazon, etc.) on the same device as my OTA DVR (Live Channels). Voice search also comes in handy (saves a lot of typing). Casting is nice, but is way down on my list.
