I'm going to wait until later to get one. Until ATSC 3.0 broadcasts start in the DC area. Or at least until it's offered at BestBuy and Amazon.

I got the developer version, solely in anticipation of deployment

Gonna send it down to Phoenix again with an inverter for mobile testing, probably

Questions about the Recast should really go in the Recast Thread. They're off topic, here.

Walking the fine line between jaw-dropping and a plain ol' yawn.

I didn't like my HD homerun. I have it sitting on a shelf somewhere collecting dust (pun intended).

That being said I would consider this. What kind of horsepower does one need in a computer? Will I even have any channels to watch in the near future? I don't want to hear optimistic reports about the roll out. I can't believe the pandemic hasn't had an effect on stations making the transition.

Having fun playing the new mobile game Volley Village

.
What didn't you like about the HDHR, other than lack of built in DVR/PVR functions?

Issues with tuners?

I agree that in light of generic ~$30 ATSC1+QAM tuner boxes like the eMatic 103's of the world with USB ports for DVR recording, don't know why all HDHR devices don't have a simple USB port or two for connecting memory sticks or hard drives/SSD's for raw stream recording with simple schedule features like a 30 year old VCR.

I assume for cost and business reasons- ie sell DVR functionality/cloud DVR services.

Eventually there will be generic $30 ATSC3.0 boxes like the eMatic for simple DVR/VCR-like recroding to USB drives, maybe faster this time around in the OTA upgrade cycle.
