A+ film of the genre.

Though binned by the masses as a "Slasher" film, it's an excellent macabre black comedy-esque take on the values of the American capitalist dream.

LIke all good horror/macabre films, it should not be taken at face value, but rather the underlying themes, lessons, and phychologies on display.

Perfect role for Bale and nice early Leto appearance.

Watched the "Uncut" DVD I've had for years, picked up at thrift. FIlm-like look, appears to have been shot on 35mm, but DVD shows excessive edge enhancement.

Will watch the Blu Ray next year to compare image quality.

As a Genesis superfan, can't believe I missed out on the Collins/Genesis commentary scene all these years, similar to the Huey Lewis analysis above
Love, love, love this movie. Getting Bale in that role before he blew up and capturing that blue blooded 80s capitalism in the context of a horror movie and, obviously, based on the Bret Easton-Ellis novel, which is apparently way more extreme than the movie, yeah, lightening in a bottle.

Also, one of my favorite memes ever is this image of Bale (with the bloody face) that reads, "The original Axe Body Spray."

Anyone jumping in on the Disney Plus? I'm bi curious for the Mandalorian and the price isn't too steep. If I can add it to Hulu like HBO we will probably try it out but we have no need for the ESPN portion.

Yeah, preordered awhile back. Although I’m doing the monthly sub cuz I can’t be bothered to commit for 3 years. They do offer a bundle, it’s the Hulu w/ ads and ESPN+ for $12.99

The Mandalorian looks better than the last two movies.

We've got the Hulu with live TV. Covers the wife and her Real Housewives, crime doc, and Dr. Phil fetish. It's like 50 a month with cloud DVR etc. It's a little meh for kid content but keeps the kid entertained. I use it for F1, and classic tv on my lunch hour. All in all not bad.

I'm going to get Disney Plus when I actually have time to sit down and watch The Mandalorian. I already have Hulu w/ads so getting the bundle with ESPN + will be a done deal.

Read my mind- was gonna mention this one. Next up on my list.

Went to Amazon Prime Video from Google search link, and it shows up as "Buy HD $0.00" and "Rent HD $0.00"!?

Don't know if it's a mistake/bug on their part, but picked "Buy" option, may as well have it "forever" for $0.00

Bale is the penultimate method actor- he lost a dangerous amount of weight for that role. Purportedly down to 66 lbs!?

Bale was amazing as Cheney in Vice

Yep- picked up one of Rucker's "country" CD's at thrift in the past year. Well produced, sounds great, and I like his style/voice. Not too twangy/lost-my-dog/house/wife-ish
(More vocalist folk)

BTW- Salvation Army in SE MI has had CD's at an all time low the past year or 2- ~5/$1 (20 cents each!?)

Price fluctuates often, though- currently 50 cents I believe, some thrift stores are ~$1-$2.

Currently a "golden age" to collect lossless music on good old physical media (optical disc or vinyl)- far cheaper than any lossless streaming.

(though i have the lossy Amazon music tier for mobile/workouts/convenience/sampling new and unheard albums/etc)

Bale is listed at 6' tall so that's likely physically impossible. I read he got down around 120 range at some point, which is still crazy for 6' tall. 66 lbs....he'd have to be deboned first.

I got Disney+ up and running last night and watched The Mandalorian. A nice surprise is all the Star Wars movies have been upgraded to 4K DV and DA. Watched a bit of The Empire Strikes Back in DV as well. Unfortunately the Tron movies are still just HD. If any movies were begging for the 4K HDR love it’s them. Man, that would be outstanding. The Mouse+ does have the original Duck Tales and Chip n Dales Rescue Rangers for the old curmudgeons like myself. Everyone, sing along with me; Sometimes some crimes go slipping through the cracks, but these two gumshoes are picking up the slack. There's no case too big, no case too small when you need help just call...

Not me, too much fragmentation of the streaming market as it is and all stockholder driven. Besides I don't need to revisit my childhood daze. The more mature Disney stuff will remain on Hulu anyway which they mainly own too.

Finished "The Black Forest" last night on Amazon. It is an excellent Brazilian horror film.

Also finished the excellent six episode UK "Informer" series on Amazon. Not horror but available in 4K. I'm also noticing that a lot of older "filmed" US TV series have been rescanned in 4K and available on Amazon.

May not have been published, had not Vintage Books, New York stepped up.

Ellis eventually found a home for his novel, which made a great deal of money, in spite of Rosenblatt’s call for a boycott. “American Psycho” inspired a film and a musical and is now properly regarded as a satirical document of its times.

So the wife bought me Willy's all natural salsa. As I do loves to try me some new salsa. Well now every time I open the fridge I see the Willy's and immediately start singing The Sweet's, "Little Willy, Willy, won't go home. You can't make Willy go, Willy won't go..." I'll open the fridge door and be singing that song for a good hour. Walking around the house singing it my kids now are like, that's a catchy song, Dad. It's by The Sweet, I tell them. They have several more good songs too. Let me get the CD and we can give it a spin... I got the look like what is this dinosaur talking about. It's ok, Dad, they said. We'll just get it from Spotify. I was like, well yeah, that's what I meant when I said CD. C'mon, try and keep up.

Exact same reaction when I consult the ancient tome of knowledge, aka the dictionary.

It turns into a vs Google discussion and yes the convenience is great but having it the pockets of the masses and on demand doesn't mean instant understanding.

I finished "Therapy" (Shudder) last night. This is a French found footage horror film. These days there is no "shaky cam" because the cameras seem to have stabilization built in. However "Super8" footage doesn't look that good captured (there is a mix of that, GoPro and regular camcorder footage). I'll give it 3.5 axes.

The Sweet put on a good show. For the MN folks, you may have heard of Moondance Jam. For fun, me and some buddies work there every summer and because I'm always near the stage I get to see all the bands up close and personal. Anyway, I'm not the kind of guy to go up and ask for pics or autographs or anything like that....I just mind my business and do my thing. But the last time Sweet was performing, they made a point to stop and talk to me after their set to just ask questions about the event and what my role was. They're some cool cats.....especially their new front man Paulie Z.

Just got done watching Thir13en Ghosts (2001). First time watching it again since it came out (and that first watch was a LONG time ago). I was in high school when I first watched it. I'll say that I remember liking it a lot more when I was younger but it is still a good movie. Sound mix still is pretty awesome (for today) with excellent use of surround speakers.

They have several more good songs too. Let me get the CD and we can give it a spin... I got the look like what is this dinosaur talking about. It's ok, Dad, they said. We'll just get it from Spotify. I was like, well yeah, that's what I meant when I said CD. C'mon, try and keep up.
