I usually dig the A24 flicks, they are a bit Studio Canal or art house but usually different and solid. Those two though were just foreplay with no payoff.

I did enjoy Doctor Sleep more than I thought, I had gripes but overall I liked that one. Also watched Parasite which I was a bit let down with but there was a lot of hype around that one. As for TV The Witcher was just ok for me but really digging The Kingdom.

Is it worth trying to track down? Actually I’m in no hurry. Just started The Clone Wars. It’s 7 seasons. Uff da.

Kingdom is fantastic. Really liked that show. Another good series is Into the Night. It’s not horror but has a sci-fi element to it.

Just watched the trails for The Lodge and The Platform, both look worth watching but I think I am more interested in The Platform, looks very different. Anyone see these yet?

Not horror but the "Alien" UHD BD is well worth it.

Last night I rewatched the first three episodes of the UK series "Utopia" on BD. The BD is the two disc set of season 1 that was released with no region encoding. It wouldn't play on anything but my older Samsung BD player until I got my Sony UHD X700 where it plays nicely and upscales well to 4K. The color grading for this show is also something else. BUT, this series is even more relevant than ever especially at about 20 minutes in. How Dennis Kelly could have been so prophetic? Now where is the Amazon version which finished production last summer? Interesting that Amazon (and ITunes) have the 2013 "Utopia" episodes available in their UK stores.

And if you haven't see "Captive State" that's another movie for the times. It's available currently on Showtime if you have that. I liked it so much last fall that I got the BD of it (no UHD version but it was a 2K intermediate anyway). I also followed up by watching the movie that inspired it "Army of Shadows".

Not yet, The Platform is on Netflix so it's easy to access, word has it if you liked the original 'Cube' you'll like The Platform.

Horror is multi-faceted and that means no one is going to like everything. But that also means people will be/should be exposing us to things we wouldn't otherwise know of. I know when I watched 'Midsomer' it struck me as "What if Clive Barker watched 'The Wickerman' and said I can amp that up", some people like it and some don't.

Not quite horror, but you might get into the new 'Snowpiercer' series that's coming to TNT.

The Platform is nothing like The Cube. The Platform is good, but a very nasty, disgusting movie.

We all have our preferences I suppose. I think we've all seen enough cult movies that it's an easy sub-genre to criticize, but still more obscure than zombies and such. House of the Devil was one of my cult horror favs that jump to mind.

Utopia finished shooting in Chicago and other Il. locations in early fall but it wasn't finished. Going by when they test their finished products (pilots or early episodes) to when they air it's usually around six months. Utopia was tested back in Jan. 2020 the rest is under NDA. Don't expect anything before late June or early July. Of course with COVID 19, all schedules are subject to change.

An absolutely fantastic flick. My wife no longer allows it for Horrorfest, at least not when she's watching with me. She claims we've seen it too many times and she wasn't much of a fan in the first place.

Not quite sure what's wrong with her

Haven't seen The Platform, but did watch The Lodge last weekend. I thought it was a pretty good movie, not really horror, though, more of a psychological thriller. It was made by the team that was behind Goodnight Mommy. While the two are not directly connected, they do share some themes. It's fair to say that if you liked one, you would probably like the other, although I'd say that The Lodge is the better of the two.

It's not the visual powerhouse of the 80's flick but does stay closer to the books in terms of narrative. I'm betting the new Dune is going to be killer.

I’ve rode many a worm in my day. It was Tijuana, late 80’s. The agave nectar was angry that day, my friends - like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli. I got about 3 shots down when suddenly the great beast appeared before me. I tell you he was ten stories high if he was a foot. Perhaps I’ve said too much...

I saw Dune on release in the cinema 1984 in Minneapolis Minnesota. I dosed a fist full purple haze of acid.

I don't recall if I saw Goodnight Mommy so if I did must not have made an impression. I do like movies that take place in the snow though, that isolation factor adds something!

I saw The Platform on Netflix. While right now I have no patience for most movies due to being in a perpetual crummy mood, The Platform held my interest all the way and made me forget about my problems while I was watching it. No, its not spectacular, but it makes you think about whats really going on, and while it can be disgusting at times I dont think its half as disgusting overall as people are saying. Definetely worth watching!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info. Of course I know that there would be post production going on but then as I have mentioned before unless they were presenting it in some distant future there wouldn't be a need for more time consuming CG. Originally the HBO series was set for a summer series from what I read so yeah, it may be a summer series on Amazon. I know NDAs well from being in the entertainment software industry.

The first season was on Hulu and I suspect the "final" season also there. How soon would be interesting. I don't think NBC has an option for holding back for Peacock.

We watched it last night, very original and really helped curb my covid appetite!
Goodnight Mommy was part of my Horrorfest either this past year or the year before. I recall liking it quite a bit. Maybe more of a thriller than horror, but still fairly well done.

Definetely worth watching!!!!!!!!!!!
