Just got back from watching Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Overall, I loved it! Just what I expected a Godzilla movie would be. The visuals and sound design/mix were awesome! Can't wait to crank the crap out of this one at home.

"Lifechanger" on Netflix is a pretty good body hopping horror film and well worth a watch.

I've been thinking of boxing up most of my DVD collection. BD's and my 3 UHDs may stay on the shelf however.
Ballpark estimate, I have probably re-watched 10-20% of the titles...but that's still a lot! There are also a couple dozen that get watched at least once a year. Now that my oldest daughter is 13, she's getting to see a lot more of my video collection...she is a budding horror fan!

Monster Island. The Asylum's attempt to ride Godzillas tail while the riding is good. The movie however wasn't.

"Svaha" on Netflix is good Korean "cultural horror" tale. I also watched "Aquaman" on UHD 4K BD last night and thought it would be a good candidate for "MST 3000". The poor actors having to say those lines!

I'm wondering why studios still are doing 2K intermediates and shooting 3.4K in this day in age? Budgets I guess.

A lot of digital projection chains are still 2K for commercial theaters. Commercial theaters are still considered the prime market for the studios, home markets are secondary. Don't spend money where no one will notice.

Just finished the first season. Mostly had to struggle through it and had a hard time paying attention. There is definitely some good gore, but it played mostly like some weird amalgamation of a slasher and a soap opera. It seemed like a Canadian watched Scream and then decided to make a TV show with an even more convoluted plot.

For season 2 I will watch the first 2-3 episodes, and if I'm not sold, I'll skip to season 3.

I haven't been to the nearby theater in a long time but I suspect they're 4K now. It's like tech follows me around so I got one of the first all digital theaters in the SF Bay Area just a couple blocks away well over 10 years ago. There was a reason however as the company was using the theater for their consulting business helping theaters set up for digital.

I watched "Glass" 4K last night. It was a VUDU weekend deal for $2.99 (any rez).

Watched the first episode of 'NOS4A2', starts off as a slow burn, sets things up but doesn't over-explain them. When you're watching pay close attention to the map. Interesting stuff.

Chernobyl

This mini series is going to win every single award it is nominated for. At least I would like it to The acting, the direction, the writing, the cinematography, the music, the editing (I could go on and on) were all phenomenal. But what is truly amazing is how relevant this show is to today. The cost of lies. I've never seen anything like it. And I probably won't see something like this again in my lifetime. I know this term is thrown around a lot, but this mini series is truly extraordinary.

Agreed. We just started watching this last night and got two episodes in. This is as scary as any horror movie I have seen. The music is so creepy and the whole thing has a building sense of dread and hopelessness. Really great acting, sets, all of it looks amazing so far.

You can't sign up for HBO Go as a standalone service but if you have HBO through your cable service it is included for free. You can subscribe to HBO Now as a standalone streaming service if you want.

I signed up for HBO Now for a free trial and canceled before the month was up. Caught up on what I wanted. That was last fall. I think I can turn it back on for a month every now and then though. Currently I'm interested in the Deadwood movie but that is going to be available on the rental sites anyway and is showing under "pre-orders". I've bought some HBO series before after I cut the cable. Final season of "Treme" was a bargain.

Chernobyl wold be interesting since back in the 1980s the computer club in the Tri-Cities (near the Hanford site) a local physicist who had traveled to there are after the incident gave a report along with slide show.

It's honestly pretty low in the MCU in most people's opinions that I've seen. I've gotten enjoyment out all the MCU movies, but Captain Marvel is not prime IMO.

Here are my favorite MCU movies in order and with tiers applied.

**Top:**

Thor: Ragnarok
Avengers: Infinity War
The Avengers
Avengers: Endgame
Captain America: Civil War
Iron Man
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy
Black Panther
Captain America: The First Avenger
Ant-Man

**Mid:**

Spider-Man: Homecoming
Doctor Strange
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Thor
Captain Marvel
Ant-Man and the Wasp

**Bottom:**

Iron Man 2
The Incredible Hulk
Thor: The Dark World
Iron Man 3

I'm sorry! I couldn't resist.

Anyone watching What We Do in the Shadows on FX? Loved the movie immensely. Love the show as well. Matt Berry kills me. Every episode I'm laughing hysterically at something he said. Satan bless Taika Waititi (who also directed my favorite MCU movie Thor: Ragnarok )

I loved the movie too but I was disappointed with the first episode of the seires. Maybe my expectations were too high. I have the season recorded so maybe some day I'll pick it up again.

My addiction to horror movies continues with "Mercy Black" Monday night and "The ToyBox" last night. "Mercy Black" (Netflix) was good but "The ToyBox" (Hulu) not so much maybe 2.5 jump ropes.

Man, just watched the third episode of Chernobyl last night. The makeup and effects are just disturbing. I knew radiation could do nasty things to human beings but seeing these guys with their flesh basically melting off of them and liquifying their organs. This really must have been a horrible way to die and most of them had no idea what they were getting into or "volunteered" to help. I love horror movies but the most frightening and disturbing things for me are always based in reality and the human element.
