Perhaps a good ping pong movie from 2007 "Balls of Fury". Check your local library for what they may have & loan it out for free. Some libraries borrow from other libraries upon request if you can wait a day or two, or go to the library that lists it and you may be able to borrow it on a different city / town library card. If they have any John Waters films, those will really test the scope of humor of viewers watching bizarre people living in another dimension whose lives are normal & everyday to themselves. "Freaks" may be available on YouTube, more of a drama than a comedy, unless you enhance yourselves with an hours worth of beer or whatever. A favorite of lately on YouTube is "We Love Russia", with ongoing "fail" entries every month or so. Also try "optical illusions" on YouTube, some are stunning. Enjoy whatever farce with friends!

+1! I bought a lot of HDDVDs awhile back and this was included. What a stitch!

I just saw the Movie Frank (Michael Fassbender) last week, it is self described as a dark comedy..... not bad, I wasn't that all enarmoured with it either, but some may like it.

Not sure if I or anyone brought it up earlier, I liked Escape From Tomorrow, a dark side look at a Disney vacation, filmed entirely at Disneyland/World without Disneys permission..... Yes it's in Black & White too!

Eddie and the Cruisers bombed during it's original theatrical release but it found an audience because of a heavy rotation on HBO. It has a cult following but mostly forgotten by audiences today. It even had a terrible sequel that should have never been made.

It is so extremely gruesome in the hilarious way it was made that it deserves a very good spot in this thread here.
It's a top-of-the-line comedy about zombies. ...Very classy. ...With a snow white background, so that the red blood shines even more so.

* Not for everyone. ...But in this thread right here, yes abso!utely.

Hell Comes to Frogtown

OK, that is a joke ..... worth trying to watch though.

In all seriousness. Many older people know it but based on the answer I read so far..... everyone needs to see "They Live". Rowdy Roddy Piper's finest movie. And definitely a cult classic. I can't say that no one has heard of it though.

"cult classic" and "nobody knows about" are not words that belong in the same sentence.

I'm putting The Hunter from 2011 in the pile. I think only 5 people, including myself have seen it. It's a fairly dark story of man vs wild vs big science, discussion of which at avs will get you thread banned.

I watched it when it came out on DVD and thought it was really good. Can't believe that was 2011 though. Time is flat flying.

My nomination: The Hospital with George C. Scott and the absolutely gorgeous Diana Rigg.

Dark Humor, a whodunit and a rant all in one movie.

Definately - for as vicious as a winter we had here I froze just watching it!

I also saw The Nightcrawler this weekend, while it's new, I don't think it got the recognition & may fit in with this group... someday.

'Nightcrawler' is a horror/drama film with a comical/ironical/sarcastic twixt. ...Perfectly well executed (performance by our main character; Louis).
I rank it high in the "grab your attention from beginning to end" entertainment department.

Looking through the pages I noticed that most of the posts are about movies that are forgotten and don't necessarily fit the "cult" status. Posted a few of those myself.

Does anyone remember the name of the site that actually sold cult movies from around the world. They went out of business a few years back but they carried tons of titles. I remember they were the first to carry the uncut Korean Malena DVD in the U.S. when it first came out.

We are trying to be the best source of "Cult" movies here @ AVS, from all over the Internet.
...But with that very "special/unique" humor touch that is specially originated by all our own individual characters. ...Call it "team effort".

♦ This thread right here.

Per my database since keeping track since Jan of '10, I've watched 1377 movies, not counting the 92 documentaries & 90 some TV series. Now I remember a few from way back from the '70's-90's VHS Genre stuck in my mind too.

I am trying to consider the oddness or weirdness factor here too when I post ie: Dark Comdeies.... Why Lynch, John Waters, & Tarantino (although his flicks are popular now), fit in so well here.

I used to watch a movie on Kung Fu Cinema years back called the Three Avengers (AKA The Llama Avenger), American Michael Winston was in this & the dubbing was a scream, finally found this on DVD.

Speaking of Dead Snow, did you catch the sequel Dead Snow 2?

Looks like the Cast of Big Bang Theory going Zombie hunting!

I saw the preview of while watching Let's Kill Wards Wife (which although a dark comedy, I don't recommend)

I'd pay 50 bucks to see them (TBBT) get slaughtered by zombies, wild dogs, or police.
