In these cases I always imagine the producer holding a check up behind the camera.

Between Marcia Gay Harden in this, Octavia Spencer in that garbage CBS sitcom with Allison Janney, and Patricia Arquette in the latest moronic CSI spinoff, it really goes to show you how little a Supporting Actress Oscar is worth in terms of career advancement.

Thanks Bill. Sorry if I shouldn't have said her name, I will refrain in the future. But since it has already been said, I'm not sure it is her and can't remember any other movies like that she was in.

No, not at all! We don't have a rule on that, but since you are new I wanted you to know that we actually do have some rules. It does no harm to remind everyone of that from time to time.

Actually... I thought they were trying to be a bit funny or wry with this. As if it were soap opera scenes from a near parallel dimension where this stuff is appealing.

Two sequels already in the works.

I hated the casting when I heard of it. Dakota ended up being OK, but Dornan is no Christian Grey. However, they have perfectly cast the role of "Mrs. Robinson" (Elena) in the next installment -- Kim Basinger. She is the beautiful older woman who "taught" Christian and who makes Anastasia extremely jealous. (Yes, I have read all three novels -- horribly written.)

Mother & daughter "psychic" scammers try to take down Houdini.

Catherine Zeta-Jones, Guy Pearce, Timothy Spall and 13-year-old Saoirse Ronan

Directed by Gillian Armstrong. I will usually give her films a look and who doesn't like a stage magic costume romance? But this is once only for me. They could have done more and better with the concept.

Series? or the movie? I was tempted by the box set of the series a while back. I felt like FIREFLY was a thinly disguised homage to Cowboy Bebop. (BTW, I thought the CB movie was pretty good, too.)

My samples were from episode #5 , "Ballad of Fallen Angels". The poster: I don't know, I just found it online.

Firefly and Cowboy Bebop: whoever likes one will probably like the other. Both are remarkable creations.

My one criticism of the animated series is that it sometimes leans toward a cuteness you find it a lot of Japanese SF: cute dog, cute kid, cute psycho-girl. But it's still worth it.

Correct! Fascinating documentary about a film that was never made. Eclectic lineup of talent.

I suspect the film itself would have been a disaster. People can take surrealism for about 10 minutes and then want something else.

The director had no idea what Dune was when he decided to make the film. Just that it was a famous book.

And I have no idea why it's a famous book. It's one of the very few books I just couldn't get through. I stopped reading about 2/3 of the way through and never went back.
