If so, I've totally forgotten it. Hope it wasn't the same image.

I can't even remember the ones I've done.

Overshadowed by Goodfellas and other NYC crimes films of that year, it's been better known since. Twilight Time has the Blu-ray.

Welcome new players!! Please take a moment to read the first post of the the thread to see how this is played. Follow Bill’s great examples on how to post a puzzle, without disclosing the title or other hints. Don’t add the spoiler and answer until AFTER someone has successfully identified the film.

I have to guess WINGS, although that doesn't look like Richard Arlen and the title doesn't end with "E". So I'm curious.

Ok, thanks, will try to do so!

(A suggestion: don't post the answer so soon, even in a spoiler. Wait 48 hours and begin posting hints or other images. Confirm the correct answer after someone has given it).

I'm confused. Was this one answered? If not, the movie is The Big Parade, one of director King Vidor's best silent films. That's John Gilbert in the leading role.

It wasn't answered but the title was posted. You get the point, presuming you knew the title without reading the spoiler.

No, I didn't see the title posted here. There's a spoiler indicated but nothing associated with it.

I do know this one quite well. I bought the Blu-ray when it came out years ago. I also purchased it on iTunes. It looks great in both formats.

Kevin Brownlow has a nice segment on it in his video series Hollywood. If I remember correctly, Vidor does a voice-over where he explains how he used a drum beat to pace the soldiers as they walk through the forest and are shot down.

Still hoping that Vidor's other great silent film, The Crowd, will be released on Blu-ray. Both The Big Parade and The Crowd do turn up occasionally on TCM in the U.S.
