I have heard this one was being remade as a TV series in Europe, but I haven't heard enough about it to know more. I remember the movie quite well.

It has been a tough month of challenges. Horrific, one might say.

It is! Massey as the family psycho-killer, substituting for Boris Karloff who couldn't get away from the stage play because he was the chief draw of the show and an investor in the production.

The movie uses "looks just like Karloff" jokes.

Review: Arsenic and Old Lace (1944).

Now I start stockpiling challenges for next October...

Dang!

That's Farnsworth in the first and third image, Fonda and James Caan in the center.

Got poor reviews on release, and I wasn't an Alan J. Pakula aficionado yet, so I skipped. I regret that and now want to see it. I admire TT for their note on the quality of the master and reduced price; may pick up on the next SAE sale on TT titles.

Looking at your captures, it certainly looks like a late-1940s, 1950s western, all blue skies and weathered skin tones, captured on a wider screen that suits the American landscape.

"Exceedingly odd," said the butler.
