Didn’t really like Anna Karenina, it had great acting, thought Alicia Vikander did great. However, the way they portrayed the movie as a play was not my cup of tea.
Knight and day way great, it had some really fun parts in it and I enjoyed the whole movie!

Goodonya everyone for your "dissections" of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003).

On a different note, R.I.P. Robert Walker Jr. (1940 - 2019). I recall as a gritty young actor, similar in impression to Sal Mineo.

The following is a scene from The Ceremony (1963), with Sarah Miles and Lawrence Harvey, for which (at age 23) he won a Golden Globe for Best Newcomer Male (as did Stathis Gallelis/America America, Albert Finney/Tom Jones).

Blade Runner - Final Cut (1982/2007) - Ridley Scott directs. Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, Daryl Hannah, Edward James Olmos, Joanna Cassidy, M. Emmet Walsh, Brion James, Joe Turkel, William Sanderson and James Hong.

Of the seven film releases this is the only cut approved by Ridley Scott. I remember seeing the theatrical release in 1982 and thought it was great. I had no problem with the film noir voiceover and the romantic ending. It wasn't until later that I learned that Scott considered it an abomination. The Final Cut version looks and sounds great and is much more streamlined even with added elements. Great cast. Classic Vangelis soundtrack. In 1993 it was selected for preservation in the U.S. National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

The final movie in the Hobbit trilogy. This film benefits greatly from 3D with great depth layering, unfortunately it has very few pop-outs. The DTS-MA 7.1 soundfield is excellent and quite active especially during the battle scenes. The movie received an Oscar nomination for Best Sound Editing. Blu-ray released in March 2015.
It's a shame the home 3D doesn't have the high frame rate that the theaters had. By this time it was fairly impressive.

This was a once for me. I wanted to stop it so bad yet I put it on for family to watch. One of the family guest commented the same.
It's not that it's bad it's just a once for me only.
Maybe you all will like it.

Saturday Night we watched the movie "Game Night". It was hilarious. We laughed to no end. Fun sound mix as well. Very unique cinematography. I tried not to let some of the soft focus around the edges bother me and just enjoyed the fun the film had to offer. Twists and turns throughout .
Have fun,

Casino (1995) BD Directed by Martin Scorsese ('Mean Streets', 'Taxi Driver', 'Goodfellas', 'Cape Fear', 'Shine a Light' doc.,'The Wolf of Wall Street'). Cinematography by Robert Richardson ('Platoon', 'Wall Street', 'A Few Good Men', 'Kill Bill 1 & 2', 'Shine a Light' doc., 'Inglourious Basterds', 'Django Unchained', 'The Hateful Eight', 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood'). Editing by Thelma Schoonmaker ('Woodstock' doc., 'Goodfellas', 'Cape Fear', 'The Wolf of Wall Street').

Hadn't seen "Casino" since its first-run. Enjoyed it more this time. Catherine Scorsese's final film. The director's mother passed two years after.

Sharon Stone, a Golden Globe win for Best Actress.

Office Christmas Party - Unrated (2016) - Josh Gordon and Will Speck direct. Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn, T. J. Miller, Jillian Bell, Vanessa Bayer, Courtney B. Vance, Rob Corddry, Sam Richardson, Randall Park, Kate McKinnon and Jennifer Aniston.

A great cast of comedians who aren't given enough to do and seem wasted in their roles (no pun intended). The unrated version is not any funnier than the rated in spite of the added raunch and nudity. This is not to say there aren't funny moments in the movie just that it could have been better. Mixed critic reviews. Blu-ray released in April 2017.

Two from APV, regarding the extraction of information from captive terrorists. Worthwhile, if you're not already numbed by the subject matter.

Unthinkable (2010) Directed by Gregor Jordan ('Buffalo Soldiers', 'Ned Kelly'). Cinematography by Oliver Stapleton ('The Grifters', 'The Cider House Rules', 'State and Main', 'Buffalo Soldiers', 'Ned Kelly', 'Casanova' 2005). Editing by Scott Chestnut ('Rounders', 'The Ultimate Gift').

Samuel L. Jackson 5, Carrie-Anne Moss, Michael Sheen, with strong support from Stephen Root (Hawthorne Abendsen/The Man in the High Castle), Gil Bellows.

The (Torture) Report (2019) Directed by Scott Z. Burns. Cinematography by Eigil Bryld ('Kinky Boots', 'In Bruges', 'Ocean's 8'). Editing by Greg O'Bryant ('Blink').

Adam Driver, Annette Bening, John Hamm.

Budget $45M , Worldwide Gross $114M.

Though Wally's grab-bin (DVDs) tempted, nope.

As I did the following APV beauty, with a $40M budget. Warning: Keep smell meter handy. It lasted thirty minutes before being unceremoniously dumped.

The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018) Directed by Susanna Fogel. Cinematography by Barry Peterson ('Zoolander', 'We're the Millers', 'Central Intelligence'). Editing by Jonathan Schwartz.

Among those shamed: Justin Theroux; Kate McKinnon; Gillian Anderson; Sam Heughan; Jane Curtin; Paul Reiser. It could be said that Susanna Fogel should never be allowed to direct another feature-length film.
