After finishing WW Season 3, I re-watched the original classic from 1973, with The Man in Black Yul Brynner. Lots of things I've already forgotten, such as the other 2 parks that were not in the TV series, Roman and Medieval. Yul was like a pre-Terminator, hardly did much talking. Not as deadly but was still deadly. The others were not as memorable.

Fun to watch with a very straight forward plot.

iTunes recently upgraded this to Dolby Vision. Watched it last night and it looked a lot better then I recall the Bluray ever looking.

Director: Jack Clayton
Writers: Henry James (based on the story "The Turn of the Screw"), John Mortimer (additional scenes & dialogue)
Stars: Deborah Kerr, Peter Wyngarde, Megs Jenkins, Martin Stephens, Pamela Franklin

A perfectly balanced adaptation of Henry James The Turn of the Screw, with Deborah Kerr in her greatest performance. The best part of this movie might just be the acting of the two children Martin Stephens, Pamela Franklin who are excellent in their roles. Our governess is convinced that they've become possessed by their former caretaker and her lover, destroying their innocence and corrupting them. The roles demanded an acting grace that is uncommon in children this young. The cinematography is rich, the atmosphere is dead on, the dialog is razor sharp.

Catches an eerie, spine-chilling mood right at the start and never lets up on its grim, evil theme. Director Jack Clayton makes full use of camera angles, sharp cutting, shadows, ghost effects and a sinister soundtrack.

One of the most elegantly filmed Gothic ghost tales ever made.

Disorganized Crime (1989) on DVD. (I just received the DVD from Amazon.com today.)

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this crime caper where just about everything that could go wrong with a simple heist did!

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

I'm a huge Tarantino fan but I wasn't blown away by this...definitely not in my top tier of QT movies like Inglourious Basterds and Pulp Fiction...maybe a 2nd viewing will help me appreciate it more...the production design was stunning as always (clothing, 1969 details etc) and the acting was top notch as well but the story fell a little flat and didn't have the usual QT flair to it...the dialogue wasn't as crisp and it didn't feel like a QT movie to me...a lesser QT is still better then a lot of directors but for his next to last movie I was expecting something more epic

Grade: B

Honeymoon in Vegas (1992) on MoviePlex video on demand in HD.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic comedy.

A man and his fiancee go to Las Vegas. He gets suckered into a poker game and loses big time, and the man he loses to offers to forgive the debt by spending one weekend with his fiancee, which the two agree to reluctantly. And that is just the start of the troubles of them trying to spend the weekend together.

South of France double feature enjoyed during lockdown.

To Catch a Thief (1955) BD Directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Cinematography by Robert Burks ('The Glass Menagerie', 'Strangers on a Train', 'Dial M for Murder', 'Rear Window', 'The Man Who Knew Too Much', 'The Wrong Man', 'Vertigo', 'North by Northwest', 'The Music Man', 'The Birds', 'Marnie', 'A Patch of Blue'). Editing by George Tomasini ('Stalag 17', 'Houdini', 'Rear Window', 'The Wrong Man', 'Vertigo', 'North by Northwest', 'Psycho', 'The Misfits', 'Cape Fear', 'The Birds', 'Marnie', 'In Harm's Way').

Starring Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, Brigitte Auber. Supported by John Williams, Jessie Royce Landis.

Originally, wide dispersion with critics and audience, critics thinking it Hitchcock-Lite. My lone concern is for the film being tech-lite, as in rear-projection still being used for automobile driving.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988) DVD Directed by Frank Oz ('The Score', 'Death at a Funeral'). Cinematography by Michael Ballhaus ('After Hours', 'The Color of Money', 'The Glass Menagerie' 1987, 'Goodfellas', 'Postcards from the Edge', 'Bram Stoker's Dracula', 'The Age of Innocence', 'Quiz Show', 'Sleepers', 'Gangs of New York'). Editing by Stephen A. Rotter ('The Missouri Breaks', 'The World According to Garp', 'The Right Stuff'); William S. Scharf.

Starring Michael Caine, Steve Martin, Glenne Headly.

A remake of equally fine Bedtime Story (1964) with David Niven and Marlon Brando.

As a QT fan, 'twas disappointment. So many Hollywood stories to draw on, and this is the best he could do? I put it at the bottom of his films (listed below)

Bought (BD) and watched after Oscars. 10 noms, 2 wins (Supporting Actor, Production Design). At the time, I expected more wins. Can see why it didn't now, and in a down year for films.

What's next, I wonder. He's been down and bloodied (pardon pun) before, and got back up.

1. Pulp Fiction (1994)
2. Inglourious Basterds (2009)
3. Kill Bill 1 & 2 (2003/4)
4. The Hateful Eight (2015)
5. Death Proof (2007)

I agree with your Top 2 QT movies...both are interchangeable for me depending on my mood...but I place Reservoir Dogs higher...OUATIH ranks in the Bottom 3 for me

after watching Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, 1917 and Parasite I think the best movie won the Oscar for Best Picture (Parasite)...1917 was excellent but I would still give it to Parasite

Yeah I don't know why it got so much flak I really liked it, much like the talk about Once Upon A Time in Hollywood I didn't really care for the movie. My buddy who is a big QT fan said it was one of his best, but to be honest I am not a huge fan of his to begin with but thought it was meh.
