If you want to add to that duo, I highly recommend "Their finest", a light drama about the making of a contemporary movie about Dunkirk, and the role of propaganda and filmmaking during wartime. Together, all these movies paint an interesting portrait about the same event.

I watched 'How It Ends' on Netflix. It was not great, it could have been. Most critics seem to be upset because this film doesn't fit in the box, a common complaint is it's not a good post apocalyptic thriller. Because it's not. This is an independent type of film, with decent casting, but a little weak in the sci-fi explanation department. The post apocalyptic thing is a background for the story but it's not meant to be a thriller, and I think what the film makers were trying to avoid is making it too much like a Sy-Fy channel film. It's really a simple story, but it goes out of it's way trying to be different. A good attempt caught somewhere between film 'The Road' and the 'Z Nation' TV series.

I don't believe in rating systems, I would say watch this for awhile and see if you want to stick with it. One thing you really can't do with indie films in a theater.

Eagle Eye (2008) - Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan, Rosario Dawson, Michael Chiklis, Anthony Mackie and Billy Bob Thornton. Score by Brian Tyler.

Director D.J. Caruso and LaBeouf back together after working on Disturbia in 2007. Once the film gets going it's a non-stop actioner. Blu-ray.

Nope I spent a moment or two contemplating it and then threw in the towel as any thoughts were pure speculation, didn't have a revelation or an aha moment. Seemed like maybe the "villain" got what he wanted... I didn't even think about searching for something

Poltergeist (1982) - Tis that time of year to cycle through my ghosty Blu-rays. Watched this film last night upscaled to 4K and it looked great.

JoBeth Williams drives this film, Craig T. Nelson is the emotional support. Still holds up after all these years.

It's weird when you look back at this how many elements are almost Stephen King like, I think that's part of why it endures. Still not a film for little kids.

All the positive aspects of this film were squandered in the ill-advised sequel Poltergeist II.

After not having seen it in over 20 years I watched it last night and remembered why it's not in my collection.

Just watched The Last Jedi. It was the second time I saw it. Wife bought me a 4k version for my birthday and previously saw it when it came to HBO (the day before my birthday. I didn't really want anything for my birthday, so told her just get me a 4k movie). I found it mediocre, but watchable.

I just finished Downsizing. I was a bit confused because it has all these big name actors but the tone was so non-commercial. At the end I saw Alexander Payne as the director and realized how that was possible. He's one of those folks who everyone wants to work with.

This movie doesn't at all try to coddle the viewer or to follow standard script writing 101 arcs or big beats or any of that. So lots of folks won't get it, and I was also a little taken aback at first. By the end I loved it and was really moved. And of course it has lots of that subtle Alexander Payne humor that just comes out of the very ordinary weirdness of human interactions and relationships, and at the other end it has some gorgeously emotional bits.

Hong Chow stole every scene she was in. And it was so unusual in that the movie's tone often reflects the sort of beaten down, depressed state of the main character and then she would do or say something that would just make me burst out laughing. And she also provided the most intensely emotional moments as well.

Predator (1987) - Watched the 4K Blu-ray version. Lots of grain because of the original source material. Some scenes remain soft because of the cinematography but others especially closeups look razor sharp. Saw several small details I'd never noticed before. And of course the sound in the M134 Minigun scene was off the hook, when the girl put her hands over her ears I knew how she felt.

Well i liked it, the sound mix was amazing if you have atmos, lots of overhead activity (although the audio track isn't atmos). Some decent LFE scenes.

Good acting, story and ending. It's also based on a true story that happened years ago in Canada.

I would say worth a watch.
