Backdraft - This movie would look great upgraded to UHD with a Dolby Atmos mix for sure. Good flick - had not seen it in a long while.

M*A*S*H (1970) - Robert Altman directed. Donald Sutherland, Elliott Gould, Tom Skerritt, Sally Kellerman and Robert Duvall.

Watched last night, hadn't seen in decades. Interesting to see younger versions of these actors again.

Based on the 1968 novel. First two acts are good, third act breaks down a bit with the slapstick football game. Inspired the TV series.

Blu-ray released September 1, 2009.

Déjà Vu (2006) - Tony Scott director. Denzel Washington, Val Kilmer, Paula Patton, Bruce Greenwood, Adam Goldberg and Jim Caviezel.

Still a very entertaining film. Time travel movies have been my weakness since the original The Time Machine (1960).

Aquaman (2018) - James Wan directs. Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Nicole Kidman. Some surprise voicing by Julie Andrews, John Rhys-Davies and Djimon Hounsou. Total worldwide gross of $1.142 billion.

Watched last night streaming on iTunes. A long movie at 2 hours and 27 minutes. Story takes place after Justice League.

An 'origin' movie with flashbacks to Aquaman's childhood. The storyline reminds one of the Thor and Loki rivalry.

Blu-ray releases March 26, 2019.

The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009) - Tony Scott directs. Denzel Washington, John Travolta, John Turturro and James Gandolfini.

Another Scott/Washington teaming, filmed 3 years after Deja Vu. Interesting enough but with a strange anti-climatic ending.

I think I still prefer the 1974 original with Walter Matthau.

Split UHD - Second time through. Great acting by McAvoy but the movie is pretty average. I'll wait for the bargain bin or stream the third installment of this series. Unbreakable was far better.

Predator 1 and 2 - From the UHD collection. I've never been a big sci-fi fan which probably explains why I've ever seen these movies. I thought 1 was ok and can see where for it's time it was considered great. 2 was average. The UHD presentations of these old movies was very very good. The movies - eh, average for me.

Wife is out of town so I can really crank movies. I'll bang through the last two today but can't help but think I should have picked up the Jack Ryan collection rather than this collection at Best Buy yesterday.

Ready Player One 3D (2018) - Steven Spielberg. Worldwide gross total of $582.9 million.

First time I've viewed this film in 3D on my projection setup. Purchased the steelbook version with 4K, 3D and regular Blu-ray.

Dragon Hunters (2008) - French-German-Luxembourgish 3D computer-animated adventure action fantasy comedy-drama.

Different from American animations. Soundtrack by Klaus Badelt includes the haunting tune Lotus by Jalan Jalan.

The Blu-ray was released in 2016, unfortunately not in 3D.

Apollo 11...twice. First in IMAX, then again this week after it moved to a regular theater.

Since the 80s it has been rare for me to see a movie in a theater more than once.
Apollo 11 was worth it, twice. Holy moly. The editing of the new and old archival film and audio had so many interesting layers that it stood up to one repeat viewing and probably could stand many more. Definitely noticed different details on the second viewing.

PBS played the BBC documentary Queen: Rock the World recently, and since it is non-fiction involving the actual band, watching it really drove home the high quality of the directing and acting of the band members in Bohemian Rhapsody.

The interesting thing about both Apollo 11 and Queen: Rock the World is that both were assembled from film that was shot as part of documentary projects that were never originally completed. Both films involved digging through the film and audio decades later to restore them and produce compelling titles on the latest media.
