The screenwriters, Charles Brackett and Walter Reisch, freely admit the script barely resembles the original Jules Verne story. Cheesy fun and a boyhood favorite. James Mason gives it just enough gravitas...along with Gertrude the Duck.
Especially James Mason (Prof. Humbert Humbert, 'Lolita' 1962). Saw JTTCOTE in its first run, twice in one sitting. Back in the day, some large city theaters looped films continuously. You could stay for repeats, no questions asked.

The Meg, I expected it to be bad, it was worse than expected. I do love a good bad movie and chose it for that reason, but it was just bad. The movie just checked off boxes to hit instead of making a halfway decent movie. The less I say the better for this one.

The Wind and the Lion

Timeless, great movie. A good story is a good story is a good story no matter when it was made.
Brian Keith is terrific as Teddy Roosevelt.
On Amazon Prime, Google Play and Vudu.

The Wandering Earth (2019) Netflix

Sci-fi epic earns its thrills with exciting set pieces and dazzling special effects.
The Wandering Earth is a Chinese science-fiction blockbuster based upon the critically acclaimed novella of the same name by award-winning author Liu Cixin. The movie convinces with stunning visual and sound effects that bring a dystopian world to live. The action sequences are intense. The acting performances are solid enough to make you care about the fates of the characters until the spectacular ending.

Easy question ..........
Is it in English or you have to read the text at the bottom of the screen in English ???
(I cannot think right this second as to the proper name for that)

Thanks,

The Ghost Writer (2010). Was a free movie to watch on Vudu. As a fan of Ewan McGregor, and Pierce Brosnan, and political thrillers in general I decided to check it out.
Was a pretty good movie with a couple twists and turns.

Here are a few titles for the 3D Aficionado. Note: Each film are also fabulous in 2D as well. IMHO !

I am glad to see the enthusiastic talk about 3D . My goal is to collect every 3D blu-ray title .Goal may not be sensible and or practical but I have over 300 titles and growing.

I have joined some 3D clubs and read a lot of reviews on the best 3D films to collect .

Here are a few titles for the 3D Aficionado. These titles are considered some of the best by many enthusiast I put them to the test Sony 65" Z9D and they did not fail to fulfill the hopes or expectations.

# 1. A Turtle's Tale: Sammy's Adventures

Native 3D is the most amazing use of 3D that I have seen in any film to date. Sadly, most won't be able to obtain this Blu-ray disc as it is only coded for region B. If you look to Honk Kong It is Region A/1
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ben-Stassen...72.m2749.l2649

# 2. 3-D Rarities Native 3D is the most important release of its kind. Not only does it document the earliest experiments with the stereoscopic format right through the "golden era" of the 1950s, but it also offers the best combination of depth and pop-out for those two camps who can never agree which is more important.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-D-Raritie...72.m2749.l2649

# 3. Life of Pi & Avatar Native 3D Fusion Camera System (a.k.a. Reality Camera System 1) is a Digital movie camera system developed by James Cameron and Vince Pace. It was developed as a way to shoot features in stereoscopic 3D.

# 4. David Attenborough 3D Collection Native 3D Out of Print. Considered by some to be the best 3D documentaries ever made. In my opinion, it's one of the best 3D experiences available.
https://www.amazon.com/David-Attenbo.../dp/B00FEDUIAK

# 5. Prometheus Native 3D : Two paired identical RED EPIC cameras. They were specially chosen and customed so that they make stereoscopy films. They are maked with consecutive serial numbers by their producer. Noomi Rapace is worth the price of admission !!!

# 6. Everest is the best post production 3D conversion I have seen to date. It's 3D is so convincing that it's often dizzying to watch as the climbers reach new heights.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/EVEREST-201...MAAOSwImRYLau1

# 7. Resident Evil: Afterlife Native 3D Fusion Camera System (a.k.a. Reality Camera System 1) is a Digital movie camera system developed by James Cameron and Vince Pace. It was developed as a way to shoot features in stereoscopic 3D.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Resident-Ev...0AAOSw1KRb7JJo

Sentimental favorite : Pacific Rim Post production 3D conversion Yes, it's loud and noisy, but darnit, this ranks as one of the best post production 3D conversion films since Titanic , making it an ever-so-perfect 3D home experience that is demo worthy.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pacific-Rim...f3SDqEdBclaYZc

Best bet for pre-order I have seen in IMAX 3D theater Native 3D IMAX

Alita : Battle Angel Fusion Camera System (a.k.a. Reality Camera System 2) developed by James Cameron and Vince Pace.

4K/3D Combo Steelbook Limited Edition: https://www.filmarena-eng.com/blu-ra...teelbooks-foil

4K/3D :https://www.bestbuy.com/site/alita-b...?skuId=6333206

I love my 3D . These are just but a few examples of great 3D Buy them all before 3D is no more !

Godzilla (2014) - Gareth Edwards directs. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Juliette Binoche and David Strathaim.

Dug out the Blu-ray last night in observance of the release of the sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters today. The 2014 version is an okay effort, could have been better, but who doesn't enjoy the Godzilla roar rattling everything in the room.

The 2019 sequel has already garnered mixed reviews.

When I watched it on Netflix streaming, I turned off the English subtitles and changed the spoken language to English. Having grown up on dubbed Japanese monster movies, mouths not in sync with the words I hear doesn't bother me if they are off enough that my brain isn't trying to track mouth movements with the sound.

Quest for Fire
A very good movie, watched a number of times.

"In the prehistoric world, a Cro-Magnon tribe depends on an ever-burning source of fire, which eventually extinguishes. Lacking the knowledge to start a new fire, the tribe sends three warriors (Everett McGill, Ron Perlman, Nameer El-Kadi) on a quest for more. With the tribe's future at stake, the warriors make their way across a treacherous landscape full of hostile tribes and monstrous beasts. On their journey, they encounter Ika (Rae Dawn Chong), a woman who has the knowledge they seek."

The remake or the original one?

Original original one is "The Seven Samurai" 1954. A great movie BTW. If you haven't seen...watch it. Classic.

Original one 1960 Fantastic movie
Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson

The remake 2016. Sorta like the original one but character development is weak.

I bailed on this one about 10 minutes in. I guess I need to give it a second run.

I am very much looking forward to this. It brings me back to my youth watching the monster movies on TV. It's giant monsters fighting each other, what else could you want. Don't tell me a script or acting, that just gets in the way of more monsters.
