Brightburn (2019) Theater Showing

Really good flick! Not quite perfect, but they did a great job with this premise and made the new Brightburn character someone to look out for in the future. Hopefully we see more of this character as well as others they set up at the end of it. Not exactly scary as much as it is unsettling and disturbing at times, but there were a couple of moments when I was getting a freaked out, and that’s hard to do with movies these days. Brightburn marks the beginning of superhero/anti-hero horror, and I hope there’s more of this to come. Worth seeing.

I liked it as well, i do wish they spent more time fleshing things out. They would have been better putting it out in October, not doing well which is a shame, but I do think its somewhat polarizing appeal wise.

Doomsday

Absolutely one of the best movies I have seen. This is not my genre but I have seen this number of times. Very well done. (No Zombies)

"When the first outbreak of the Reaper virus hit Scotland, Eden Sinclair was one of the last to escape containment and had to leave her mother behind. Twenty-five years later, Maj. Eden Sinclair (Rhona Mitra) leads a team back into the hot zone to find a counteragent to the virus, which has re-emerged in London. She and her comrades wage a desperate battle for survival against feral survivors, as they try to prevent it from ushering in a new dark age."

Nora Prentiss (1947) Drama, Film-Noir Noir Alley TCM app or DVD http://noiralley.tcm.com/schedule

First Time View . This was great film noir . It is in need of a UCLA Film Restoration. Fingers crossed.

The "Oomph Girl" at her Warner Brothers Peak! Ann Sheridan, that is. And they didn't call her the "Oomph Girl" for nothing.

The movie "Nora Prentiss" is about a mans obsession. That obsession leads him into such depths of depression and depravity that he destroys everything he held near and dear to himself in order to keep the woman, Nora Prentiss.

US (2019) - Jordan Peele directs. Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Elisabeth Moss and Tim Heidecker.

Watched the streaming version last night. Interesting combination of horror, humor and satire. Lots of symbolism and social commentary threaded throughout the story, sound and visuals. More outlandish than Peele's previous film Get Out. Great acting by Nyong'o.

Cast Away (2000) TV with commercials. Directed by Robert Zemeckis ('Romancing the Stone', 'Back to the Future', 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit', 'Forrest Gump', 'Contact', 'The Polar Express', 'A Christmas Carol'). Cinematography by Don Burgess ('Forrest Gump', 'Contact', 'Spider Man', 'Terminator 3', 'The Polar Express', 'The Book of Eli', '42', 'Aquaman'). Editing by Arthur Schmidt ('Coal Miner's Daughter', 'Back to the Future', 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit', 'Forrest Gump', 'The Birdcage', 'Contact', 'Primary Colors').

Another popular movie starring Jimmy Stewart, I mean Tom Hanks. Neither seldom set a foot wrong, though they do have some range, as seen in Stewart's westerns, and Hanks' Charlie Wilson's War (2007), Forrest Gump (1994).

"They nicknamed me "The Oomph Girl", and I loathe that nickname! Just being known by a nickname indicates that you're not thought of as a true actress. It's just crap! If you call an actress by her looks or a reaction, then that's all she'll ever be thought of as."

I am pretty sure Ben Hur and Cleopatra were shot in 70mm film and the transfer to Blu-ray look quite good.
Same with Lawrence of Arabia. It's all about the quality of the transfer. 4K would be awesome.
