Grand Hotel

Great movie, of course I am a huge Garbo fan. She had a presence in front of the camera that few others have ever matched. She was mesmerizing. Highest paid actor in Hollywood at the time and then just walked away after she got bored.

The Flesh and the Devil is one of the best movies I have ever seen and it was silent
I think this was made before Motion Picture Production Code censorship guidelines.

With Stephen Merchant and Nick Frost you know it's not going to be your average wrestling movie.

Fender Bender 2016

An above average tween horror flick from the Chiller network. A bit of originality with a few cliches that I think are unavoidable for this genre. Overall, it is entertaining with an unconventional ending. What's interesting about this flick, is the director kind of went out his way to provide character depth to this random serial killer. His MO is what makes him a scary dude, not just the act of killing someone.

Pickup on South Street (1953) TCM: NoirAlley, DVD, Blu-Ray from Spain (Region Free).
I could not find Blu-Ray in USA . Paid to much $$ but I am a collector
Brand new, official studio-released Blu-Ray of this great film, imported from Spain .I ordered it fingers crossed. Sexy, sultry Jean Peters. Noir fans should pounce. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pickup-On-S...k/192870036136

First Time Veiw. A pickpocket unwittingly lifts a message destined for enemy agents and becomes a target for a Communist spy ring. Richard Widmark in this film he is a pickpocket who steals a wallet on a crowded bus from the sexy, sultry Jean Peters charector and the fireworks ensue as she tries to retrieve the wallet which contains government information not known to Richard's character at first. The story develops from there. It's the underbelly of society at it's most riveting. The action is fast paced and exciting. There is a touching love story, too. Thelma Ritter is wonderful as only she can be. This is film noir at it's best. Very much worth seeing.

When you stop watching what they want you to watch you stop thinking what they want you to think.. Then you see a world that is nothing like they tell you it is.

The Andromeda Strain (1971) VUDU-- DVD--Bluray

Slow and methodical entertainment The "Andromeda Strain" delivers !

Academy Awards, USA 1972 Nominee , Best Art Direction-Set Decoration & Best Film Editing .
THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN is very literal and talky. But that is part of the film's appeal I thought. Directed By: Robert Wise (and Crichton) concoct the most absorbing, riveting take on science fiction tempered with science fact. I thought the film was great if you like a slow burn story arch . Robert Wise' direction is superbly innovative, for its' time. In addition, Douglas Trumbull's special effects warrants very special recognition, simply because his work was done entirely without the aid of advanced computer graphics(did not exist, in 1971).
Slow and methodical entertainment that will get you worried about whether they'll be able to contain that strange blob of alien green crystal.

Continue from last post about the movie Lord Of the Rings : Return of the King

Well after finishing the 6 movies in the Hobbit to Rings order it was a nice long extended journey

The King movie had some parts I was talking to the actor on the screen for the stupid stuff they were doing, but left me with a nice finish in the end, wrapping things up.
Which took a while to do. At the end, a friend that was also watching with us helped to explain the characters at the end and their past. (I don't want to spoil it)
In the end, I would highly recommend these films they are a good run that took us 1.5 years to watch when could all get together.
Have fun,

The Eagle

Really enjoyed this movie.

Under the command of Flavius Aquila in A.D. 120, Rome's Ninth Legion marches north carrying its revered eagle emblem and vanishing into the mists. Rumors of the legion's golden eagle appearing in a tribal temple reach Marcus Aquila (Channing Tatum), Flavius' son, 20 years later. Accompanied by his slave (Jamie Bell), Marcus makes a dangerous journey to Scotland to retrieve the hallowed eagle and, in doing so, to restore his father's tarnished honor.

I could not find Blu-Ray in USA . Paid to much $$ but I am a collector
Brand new, official studio-released Blu-Ray of this great film, imported from Spain .I ordered it fingers crossed. Sexy, sultry Jean Peters. Richard Widmark. Noir fans should pounce. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pickup-On-S...k/192870036136
I'll watch Richard Widmark in anything - even in The Long Ships.

Father of the Bride (1991) - Charles Shyer directs. Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Kimberly Williams and Martin Short.

Tasked with finding a movie for Father's Day this was the choice. Watched it streaming, hadn't seen since it was released. Funny but doused in a fair amount of schmaltz. Spawned a sequel.
