Spider-Man: Homecoming (MCU)

The web head is back and this time he's part of the MCU. Also, no origin story. Thank goodness.

In theaters July 7th.

I'm trying to understand what's happening regarding the studios' involvement... According to imdb, Columbia (Sony) and Marvel/Disney are producing, while Sony is distributing. Does that mean that 2 studios are actually behind the movie? Of course they don't give details but Spider-Man is now clearly part of the MCU so I'm surprised to see both Sony and Disney as producers, and the film definitely has the "Marvel feel". Or maybe Sony's role is less important and they simply kept some of the rights... I don't remember what was said when the deal was made between the 2 studios.

Regardless...I'll be there day one as always!

It's not entirely clear, but it seems like Marvel has creative control while Sony still has financial control. Here's Variety's article trying to explain the deal when it was made: http://variety.com/2015/film/news/de...es-1201429039/

An Easter egg from the Spider-Man trailer. That's Bruce Banner on the wall of Peter's school room.

Tom Hardy Is ‘Venom’ In New Sony Marvel Film To Be Directed By Ruben Fleischer

Quote:
Tom Hardy will star in Sony’s long-awaited “Spider-Man” movie “Venom,” with “Zombieland”
helmer Ruben Fleischer on board to direct.

They also note that Venom is from Sony’s Marvel Universe and is not a spinoff but the
first movie after Spider-Man from its Marvel Universe of characters.

I'm still sceptic about this film (I dont know why), but this is a good new. Tom Hardy is a beast.

This movie is getting a lot of good word of mouth. Might have to break down and take the fam to the IMAX. Anyone see this is 3D? If so, how is it?

Kinda with you. Depends on your expectation. If you are expecting a big blockbuster like WW, its disappointing because its almost more like the DareDevil sort of start up show. PP is inept and trying to figure out his way. I think it is marketed wrong and expectations might be burst. I agree with your description pretty much.

I saw this in IMAX 3D over the weekend. The 3D was pretty good for an upconversion, the movie itself was great. It looks like they finally do some justice to the character, in terms of getting past all the angst and incorporating some good humor for a change. Much better (IMO) than the previous five outings.

Better than Spiderman 2? That's high praise.

I saw the movie yesterday. Marvel needs to do something with the recipe, because it's getting boring lately. The movie is ok, simply ok. It's so predictable you could write the story without seeing the actual movie you would probably be right. Everyone did a fine job though, it's well made, the actors are good, but the movie is not very good. The jokes fell flat for the most part, the CGI was bad, and I mean bad. The irony is that I saw War For The Planet Of The Apes a few days ago as well, and I was so looking forward to the new Spidey... How is it possible to make these apes look so real and still make CG Spidey look so fake? I have no idea why Homecoming is getting so much praise. I think the best parts for me were when Happy and Tony/Iron Man were on screen. The rest is ok, but a little boring. Or maybe I just don't care for the 15 y.o kid who wants to be an Avenger. Maybe I prefer when, as Tony Stark says, the "adults are speaking".

Saw this tonight and really enjoyed it. Keaton plays a great villain. Chewed up his scenes. Day one purchase on BD.

Me too. I have to say that I really liked this movie. I thought for sure I was going to be clawing my eyes out in boredom (like I did with the other spideys) but this one really had good writing IMO. And the tense moments were pretty tense, not just that ho-hum-another-explosion tense that movies these days are overdoing like crazy.

Not a 10. Probably a strong 8 though. Totally worth seeing.

Y'know, I completely forgot about Marvel's penchant for doing such things. I was wondering why people were sitting around.

Was there anything, or are you going to convince me to buy another ticket and wait to the end? LOL....
