Trailer looks pretty cool. Of course, it doesn't necessarily preclude it from being a hot piece of garbage.

Not bad for Sofia, from Madonna's stage dancer to some recent blockbusters and now this.
Still I find the idea of Universal's "monster" features crossing with one another a rather lame brain one.

This was posted on IMAX's YouTube channel. They took it down a week later when they realized something was wrong with it. Fortunately, some people saved it.

Could go either way.
It looks good for now, but despite this trailer, I also feel like it could turn out to be awful in the end.
We'll have to wait and see I guess...

Reboot for the Universal Monster Movie shared universe.

I miss those old films where the classic movie monsters appeared in each others films. I just hope they don't screw it up. (recently, Penny Dreadful did this quite well on Showtime, so Universal has some competition here)

Not too sure about this one. I am a huge fan of the Brendan Frasier version (SO MUCH FUN!) I know this is supposed to be the start of a reboot of Universals shared monster universe (Mummy, Drac, Frank, Wolf, invisible man etc) so I guess I'll give it a watch and see where it goes...

Not screened for critics?

Some are saying it may be in the running for Tom Cruise's worst movie.

The last Tom Cruise movie I actually saw in a theater was War of the Worlds and mainly because it was directed by Spielberg. This is not to say I don't watch Cruise movies, I've seen them all but on video. There was nothing in this The Mummy that excited and after critic reviews started rolling in I nixed any thought of seeing theatrically. But although it under-performed in the U.S. it made enough money this weekend to come in at the #1 spot in the worldwide market.

Perhaps I'll just rewatch Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy.

I want to see it. Unlike most people I actually admit to being a Tom Cruise fan. I don't like everything he does but but some of his recent work has been amazing. Oblivion, Edge of Tomorrow, Jack Reacher, all fun movies.

And Tom should have won an oscar for his part in Tropic Thunder!

Wow, what a mediocre movie. The money is up on the screen but the script is like something you'd find on the SyFy channel. Not an auspicious start to Universal's 'Dark Universe' franchise.

Syfy actually has some decent original programming mixed in with the schlock these days. The Expanse is quite good.
