Looks like a modern, steampunk version of James Blishes Cities in Flight.

Well, it's post-apocalyptic Steampunk, which is a pretty specific genre. Think I'll wait for the reviews before getting overly excited.

It definitely could be really bad. I don't get excited about anything these days. The market has been very lean for good movies lately. Seems like there is barely one or two a year (IMO).

Done right, this one is right up my alley.

I'm with you, dude. Love the whole steampunk apocalyptic design motif. I'm really, really, really hoping this is good.

Oh, who am I kidding? I'll be there even if it's not. It just looks too cool to miss.

Some of the recent previews are a little to action-y. Hope that's just the marketing, and we get a good story with a measured amount of action.

Well, I think we have basically seen the whole plotline from the previews. Bad guy kills the little girl's momma and she gets away before he can kill her too. She grows up into a hottie and wants revenge and goes after him. The skinny Asian commander from the Nat'l Geo Channel's 'Mars' series rescues her and they sneak into the bad guy's big city-killing machine and try to give him his just desserts. She picks up allies & redshirts along the way who help her along and some of 'em don't make it. In the end they blow him up real good and save the world.

I think we've seen this movie before. But we've never seen a steampunk apocalypse version of this movie before!

Saw this last night in IMAX 3D, and I was quite impressed with the visuals. Character development was fairly decent for the ones with history behind them, and the 3D, although not so well-utilized most of the time, lent some verisimilitude to the major sequences. Good for a day out of the house.

Not a shock there. The previews just made it look like an indiscernible mess of visual effects, much like another 2018 flop A Wrinkle in Time.

I'm not even sure Lord of the Rings would do well today, audiences aren't book people anymore. This should have been released in the summer also, way too many movies released in the holiday period and most of them will fail at the box office.

True look at the production costs of The Hobbit series. I think the future of big epic productions is moving to TV, think of Game of Thrones as what could be the start of a trend.

Just saw this...pretty large mess with half-baked-adapter script from the book series (which I'm semi-interested in reading now).
