Tomb Raider in Dolby Vision HDR and Atmos Sound

The new reboot of Tomb Raider is mildly entertaining, but not enough to warrant a trip to the commercial cinema. However, the Dolby Vision HDR and Atmos immersive sound are excellent.

It seemed to me that it was heavily implied that her father had her solve puzzles a lot when she was a child.

This looks to be DOOM bad unfortunately. Instead of rebooting into more of a Daniel Craig Bond or Bail Batman with a sense of gravity and a bit more depth, it seems to have gone more Dwayne Johnson ultra stupid but without the campy not even remotely funny camera hamming and boom crash one liners. I was kind of hoping they would get somewhere between ROTLA and Casino Royal. I should know better.

It was ok. However, I left that theater thinking something was missing and just couldn't put my finger on it. The Dolby theater was great as always. But I wouldn't recommend that movie to anyone really. It was almost beat for beat like the game except the game is much better.

My wife and I viewed this on Saturday at the Harkins Northfield 18 in Denver Colorado. It was in there Cine Capri theater that was advertised as having Dolby Atmos sound, laser projection, and a 70ft wide Scope screen with laser projection. Had a beautiful golden curtain that opened before the show. Perfect presentation all around.

I thought the movie was pretty good actually. Not the best or most original story but entertaining non the less. It reminded me very much of the latest Tomb Raider video game I played on PS4 which made me enjoy the movie more. The Dolby Atmos mix sounded great. When called on the overheads and surrounds all matched well with the stage speakers. I really liked the Klipsch system that was in the theater. The Atmos snippet in the beginning was fantastic. This is one of the better Atmos mixes ive heard at a theater. I LOVED this particular theater and will be returning the next time I am in Denver.

The image was nice and bright on the 70ft Scope screen but was only 2K. It was advertised as laser and when I looked in the port hole I was pretty sure I seen a laser Christie unit back there but otherwise Id have no idea it wasn't Xenon lit. Very bright for only a single projector.

This movie is playing in 3D. There are some 3D Blu-ray pre-orders but the region codes are unknown. The following thread will be updated as more options show up.

Pretty cool theater but I prefer the AMC Dolby up at the Westminster promenade personally. Better visuals than Harkins.

Cool I love a good IMAX visit. Last summer I was at the Denver Museum of Natural History and watched a IMAX show on WWII at the museums IMAX and really enjoyed it. Love that museum!

Trailers looked bad anways... if you've played both games like I have, there's probably not anything new in the movie. In fact, games are much better. I too was expecting a heavy and dark survival setting but sounds like it turned out to be on the level of Jumanji WTTJ.

This was much more realistic than Jumanji or the previous Tomb Raider movies.

It’s a good museum! The imax off I-25 is a Dave and busters and is just a movie theater, no special documentaries.

I haven't played the Tomb Raider game before watching the movie, but enjoyed the movie a lot. Actually, I liked it better than Jolie movies (which were also very good AFAIR).
The movie is very dynamic and Lara Croft image is very believable - vulnerable, yet strong young lady coming of age. Alicia Vikander played it brilliantly in my opinion.
