Hellboy (April 12, 2019)

Directed by Neil Marshall, starring David Harbour, Milla Jovovich and Ian Mcshane.

I was really disappointed when I found out that Hellboy was being rebooted (I really liked the first 2 movies). But I decided to take a wait and see approach, when Hellboy's creator Mike Mignola said that this "would be close to a horror film".

The NYCC trailer has been leaked and I'm not seeing this tonal shift. In fact it seems very similar to Guillermo del Toro's version. I understand that del Toro's movies weren't huge money makers, but I really wish he had been given the chance to finish his trilogy now more than ever.

Wow!, They should of given Guillermo del Toro the god damn money he needed to make the 3rd film!!
this looks like absolute crap and cant touch the quality of the last two. also WTF is up with his face
this just like a bad CG, makeup, jokes and lightweight mess with zero heart. Hellboy II: The Golden Army came out
10 years ago and Hellboy came out 14 years ago and they both look better in every way.

You don't abuse Billy Idol's music with this rehashed crap.

I can hear the real Hellboy (Ron Perlman) now. "Hey, Stinky Get off the screen!!"

Went to watch this last night, problem was I drank 32 oz of beer, 16.9 oz of water and 20 oz of coke right befor the movie lol.

What I saw I enjoyed until I started having to pee every 5 min lol. Then I gave up on disturbing the other 4 people in the movie theater.

Hellboy movies are kind of like...if you like it you like it, if you dont like it you hate it. The talking warthog thingy made me say WTF, but then I realized its Hellboy.

Not sure what happened to david harbours voice, I thought he was talking different languages at times. Loved the Giants battle, the gore wasnt too bad. I liked seeing Ian Mcshane with some energy too.

Its hellboy, its not supposed to make sense, just enjoy the corny one liners. Ill be buying it.

Should have just stuck with the beer, only need one trip to the bathroom half way through.

Yea, between cutting grass (chug water), getting dinner(20oz coke), and grabing a beer there was about 1.5hrs between it all.

Once you factor in most theaters have two modes on their HVAC systems, off and COLD , I can see the problem. When theaters brought in espresso, I've mostly gone to hot drinks.

My wife won't attend a movie without taking a blanket.

Stephen.

Chances are very good that I was drinking when I posted the above.

Saw this a few weeks ago, and I found it to be more violent and somewhat more gruesome than I thought it would be, even for an R-rated feature. Hellboy, as Harbour played him, had too much angst this time around, and I felt that impeded things a bit. The character of Alice will never replace Liz Sherman IMO, but it was nice to see a little new blood on the BPRD team. Ian McShane is always a welcome sight in any movie he does, and I can't wait to see him again in the next John Wick. Overall, I might get this eventually when it comes to home video, but I don't think I'll be playing it quite so much.

Well, hes a younger hellboy in this one. Younger people are generally more angry and want to fight lol.

Speaking as someone who owns all the Hellboy and BPRD comics and quite liked the GDT movies - no, it's not any good. It completely fails to capture the mood and feel of Hellboy. I'd say it's closer to Hansel and Gretal, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter or Van Helsing.

I really don’t recommend a blind buy for this. It was not good. If you have to have it I would wait for a price drop. Even the great Steelbook art didn’t make me get this.

You're not making a good case, dude if you're trying to dissuade. Those were all excellent movies, especially Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Hansel and Gretel was fun in 3D too (I dug Gretel). And with Milla in this? How can anything be truly bad with Milla Jovovitch in it? Even Ultraviolet was tolerable....

I rented the 4K UHD disc from Redbox. While I do appreciate the R rating for these movies, who doesn’t enjoy seeing underworld characters creating carnage and mayhem? The movie itself was ok. Not sure they casted big red properly. Perlman owned that role. Overall a decent rental but I’m glad I didn’t blind buy it.

I didnt make it in 1/2 hour of the film it was horrible. Sold it too a mate the next day. At the end it was a price of a rental for me but still this film sucked.

Yeah, these blind buys can be a roll of the dice. Sometimes you win, sometimes you roll The Happening and get Marky Mark and murderous shrubs.
